It looks like it would be solid for coin shooting👍👍

After having both the 8000 and the 8500, I would 100% stay away from the 8500. The 8000 was an odd but good detector. The 8500 is terrible. I can’t believe it’s never been revised. All the makings are there for a great machine but the audio is awful. It’s the only Teknetics machine I’ve ever had such troubles with.

I got the my same deal as you with the extra stuff. I wish I didn't buy it. Seems like a Dud of a machine to me

I thought about the Gamma or this one,but it does not appear it will do any better than the Eurotek Pro I've been running for last 3 yrs, I now have the Mars Tiger coil on it. It's now a reliable 8" detector when I have to turn down the sen to 7. Does 9" on copper penny and 10" on quarter when I can run it wide open. It loves high toning alot on nail, bottlecaps, bits of aluminum, and there's really no way to tell the differance in most cases. Looking for an upgrade for deep coin hunting in residential area with EMI issues. I seen you had the teknetiks Patriot/F70,, wondering how that one performs in residential setting? Or what would you recomend under 500.

The patriot/f70 is smoking deep. It is one of the simplest yet extremely complex machines. The relationship between sensitivity, threshold and disc is really complex and the machine can be set up a lot of ways. It would take many hours to master it. Honestly I would probably recommend the simplex or vanquish for what your wanting to do. They are more advanced internally than the fisher/Tek stuff. They still get EMI but they are deep. However, with all that said, I’d be saving up and getting a DEUS. It’s the best move I’ve ever made in detecting. It’s incredible what it can do and with the 9”HF coil it’s great in handling emi. I sold all my detectors and went all in on a DEUS with 11” x35 and 9” HF, ws4 phones, Mi6, and DEUS remote. Try to think of it less as raw depth, let’s try to unmask some coins in places where your other machines quit producing. If you took a DEUS in behind a ETP it’d be like you never hunted it.

For me, it may not be a full time machine. Just for aluminum ridden sites with old coins in the mix. Not sure that the 11”DD will be the best option. I have a 7” concentric to try.

Isn’t your ground balance done in All Metal on the 8500? Just the opposite from the 8000.

I believe it was AM on the 8000 and disc mode on the 8500. I can’t fully remember at this point. I haven’t had either one for almost 2 years

They should took the guts outta that machine put it in a modern waterproof housing with a bigger coil and it would be a competitor to the simplex

The simplex may beat out the omega in a lot of situations, the exception being coin hunting amongst aluminum trash.
