Is this a part one? Where is Rapso or Parang? Is that coming in a part two?

This was done to fit the parameters of a school project, which is why it isn't more comprehensive. I would love to do a sequel! But that will have to wait until time permits.

It was NOT Soul and Calypso, it was Calypso and East Indian music played in Trinidad at the time. It was called Sokah. Or CalypSokah. The Soul of Calypso. But the kah was to reflect the Indian influence in the music. The first syllable in sanskrit meaning movement. And in Shorty’s words Sokah is the power of movement. It was later mispelled as Soca.

I do not where you get that from . This is the first time I hear about Sokah . Soca is a combination of Soul music( African America music) and Calypso influences period and it never had any Indian influences. Shorty is the inventor of Soca and became Rasta rename himself Ras Shorty I and move he and his family to interior forests areas in Trinidad and live a natural life style studying and meditating on God's word and came up with another form of music call Jamoo music or God's music.

@@davidcomma1930 That is not true. That is a misconception. Lord Shorty created Sokah, and specifically said So is from Calypso... and kah is Sanskrit... because he wanted the music to reflect the East Indian influence. So anyone that tells you it is from Soul music has not done the research. He did a few interviews on this that you can look up.

@@davidcomma1930 Do your research. I have been researching this for the passed 10 years or more. I've listened to the interviews multiple times. He began it as Chutney but took out the Indian instruments because there were complaints that he was ruining Calypso. So he put the rhythms on Calypso instruments... but it still sounded like Chutney for a while. Listen to those first Sokah songs.
