I think I commented on the original video but I'll add it here as well: In Sweden there were Celebi events! Possibly because Sweden has had a strong Nintendo presence since the 80s through the company Bergsala (who even had a game help hotline until the early 2000s). My brother went to a mall on the event day in our city, got one Celebi for each of us siblings' cartridges, and also got a Celebi poster that hangs on my old bedroom wall to this day ❤

11:39 I've heard that the reason psychic is weak to bug is because psychic represents the mind, and bugs represent a fear we have (as well as dark and ghost btw). Who knows, maybe it's just a way to remember it but it makes a lot of sense to me.
@davemccombs
3 ай бұрын
That makes no logical sense whatsoever. Humans do not have an inherent fear of bugs. Children literally play with them in the dirt. Furthermore, burning, freezing, drowning, heights, poisons, etc are all fears "we" have, too. For that matter, might as well just include every human being and every qualifier, since we're pretending that "we" is this one blanket entity with one set of traits.

Black and white has been, and always will be my favorite Pokemon game, I was around 6 or 7 when they came out, I had dabbled in Platinum, HGSS before, but was too young at the time to understand them, but I always felt more in tuned with the experience Gen 5 offered, I grew up with those Pokemon designs and fell in love with them, and while not a lot of them are my favorite, having played previous and later generations later in my life, I still love all those Pokemon, and the story was absolutely amazing, even as a little kid I felt like I was actually learning from the message the game was trying to tell me, and I feel like the reason why Pokemon games are my favorite is because Pokemon Black and White existed. So when I gained access to the internet and learned that when it came out ppl didn't like it very much I was so confused, I'm glad it gets the appreciation it deserves today. Imo the greatest generation of Pokemon.

BRUH! YES! SOMEONE WHO GETS IT ABOUT ABSOL! LET'S FLIPPIN' GO! 😎😎 🤜🤛 Absol became my #1 favorite Pokemon of all time. My first reaction stumbling upon it as a kid while playing Ruby when it first came out had me thinking I was looking at a psuedo legendary. Like my jaw literally dropped when seeing the design of that thing let me tell you man. I will never forget those times back in the day and still to this day no other Pokemon has come CLOSE to beating it in terms of design for me. It's just so damn cool! And knowing its story about it being misunderstood while actually being a docile Pokemon just adds to it so much. Not to mention with the whole background of it representing duality or Yin and Yang. The moment you spoke about it have that majestic yet also foreboding feel/vibe to its design, I knew right there you understood exactly the appeal of this Pokemon. And like you, it also got me to be Dark Pokemon enjoyer, though before Absol my last favorite was Umbreon which was also Dark. So in the long run, I always had gravitated to Dark types.😆 I love this Pokemon so much while my other favorites being Meowscarada and Lucario. I'm so excited of Absol making a return in Legends ZA given it has a Mega Evolution, so it's gonna be so flippin' amazing to see it in that kind of gameplay style! I can't freaking wait man! 😆

Our alphabet never existed in the pokemon universe; ancient people made written language attributing sounds to unown shapes. The current pkmn world civilisation uses a different written language and that's why they can't read them. It's not that this is explicitly stated anywhere, but it's the only logical conclusion and it works perfectly

Psychic isn’t weak to Bug because it needed a weakness. It’s weak to Bug, Dark and Ghost because it’s the 3 basic human fears.

When it comes to generation 2 I definitely feel like a lot of people view it as their favorite Not necessarily because it's the best but because it was out of very convenient kind nostalgia wise First sequel To a major phenomenon released during the height of that phenomenon its editions also felt more important because it was the first time things were added to Pokemon sure it wasn't actually that long in between the 1st generation and 2nd generation but to little kids and young teenagers that felt like a long time where we had spent so long talking about learning everything Pokemon that all of a sudden a 100 new Pokemon felt truly special and unique Until you know obviously every generation is going to add a bunch of new pokemon until eventually the pokemon start feeling redundant now that there's over 1000 I'd like to point out that technically this is the generation that adds the most statistically in terms of percentage increased while it's only 100 since the original was only A 150 That hundred was a significant increase over the original and I got to say considering it was a Game Boy game the game felt state of the art at the time with the day and night cycle the weekly system that had events only on certain days which main generation to feel like much more of a real true adventure as each year you needed to be combed on day and night for all of its pokemon and there were plenty of pokemon that could for one reason or another only be gained on certain days of the week Plus you had two Full maps to explore even though in retrospect the second is very bare bones and unfortunately locks a lot of the 250 pokemon behind that second map where by the time you can catch these pokemon You're basically done with the game single player wise so to have so many of the huge cast of pokemon only show up when it's time to be done with building your team unless you want to do multiplayer battles is very disappointing also of note One thing that really helped this game whenever you needed to grind Was that you could save the phone numbers of certain trainers and infinitely rebattled them which meant that money was infinite in the game and this is a much bigger improvement than you would think If there's a gym That's giving you trouble Or red at the end of the game because of its huge level gap you can just infinitely throw yourself at that opponent leveling up off of their weaker pokemon and then we die to the stronger ones sure you lose money but that money could be infinitely regained so there's really no penalty to infinitely leveling up off of the brick wall till you're finally strong enough to climb it it's how I beat red having replayed this generation recently it's still in a sound favorite but does indeed have quite a few flaws Awful level cap of 90% of this game where everything that isn't red barely touches the 50s And even back in the day I thought that really such that Lance this character that in story is hyped up isn't even that high of a level and when you get to the second island it's even worse because most of the gyms are weaker than he was so you already can beat absolutely every gym other than blue the moment you set foot on that island levelwise The game also demands more time out of you than generation one which was fine when you're a kid but being an adult with responsibilities it can make replaying it unless you want to skip that that's majority content which in that case we've the game feeling fairly empty You just don't have time to go through everything day and night or really engage with the weekly events particularly the bug catching contest was not only only doable once on certain days but had several pokemon and rewards that were pretty hard to get it would be like if the safari zone could only be done on wednesdays once a week And one thing also that I'm not sure if you are going to mention in your videos is I'm not all the way through yet is that generation three released at a very poor time for fans of the original game and that it released a round of the time when most kids who were into pokemon generations 1 and 2 would have been growing out of Pokemon and would have been at a place in life for all of a sudden Pokemon was considered very uncool Which led to most generation one and two players not all but most missing out on three initially with three being experienced by a whole new generation honestly since I would only play three over a decade later I still have a emotional divide over the first 250 pokemon and everything after where I view the first two generations as the original Pokemon and then everything else has the new stuff even though generation three 4 and 5 are pretty Old by now Honestly I always found it interesting that there were people who grown up and became legal adults Who never saw the first two generations And how special pokemon was initially and while it's still very Popular it doesn't have that special zing to it you aren't gonna see kids on the playground all obsessing over Pokemon Last thought of my little rant is how it is very interesting also how late into the game boys life Pokemon was and a lot of people probably don't realize that they weren't that many really big game boy games there was Tetris the Mario Land Games that was about it for really good games that are going to be popular and then all of a sudden none of nowhere came pokemon which all of a sudden made the game boy a lot more appealing to a lot more people they sold a lot of game boys off of Pokemon Particularly since the last really good game Mario Land 3 was relatively old in the system's life by then so it was kinda seen as a dead system by everybody except for people who were still obsessed with Tetris which admittedly was still a market oh and I forgot I guess it was the Zelda game on the system too That was pretty popular but yeah the game came out on the system most people had long since considered kind of a dead aging system it was very outdated tech by that point As noted by the fact that the game boy color and then the game boy advanced were not that far behind man people who bought the Game Boy Pocket got screwed

Honestly I really wish trainers particularly gym leaders would use the full six pokemon the gym leaders and other trainers just don't feel like real characters because they can hold 6 pokemon but for no reason they just don't and it makes it way too easy if you have a 6 pokemon team
