Wow, this is good knowledge for me as a newbie of choir arrangement. I've arranged more than 15 song and I've put in my YT channel (I'm sorry for a bad quality videos and bad arrangements if any). I would be very happy if you would watch my video and give your little opinion. Thx so much

Entertaining, but also has many good points! I will pass this along to my fellow A Cappella arrangers so I don’t have to sing so many tritones...

Thank you, and I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the video! :-) Yes, tritones can be a right pain to sing if they're not set up correctly, though they're pretty thrilling when used in the right way!

Musescore should not allow arrangements to be uploaded unless a veteran arranger checks the way the rhythms are notated.

Dude, you are a SCREAM! 🤣 Been going through this whole playlist in preparation for my first choral composition. These have been better than any textbook. Thank you for all for your time spent creating free content.

Hi! Thank you so much, and thanks for enjoying my silly jokes 😄 Hopefully they've helped with your vocal arranging!

Minor 9th one is so true. On real minor 9 chords in TTBB arrangements, the baritones who are supposed to be on the third always get pulled down to the 9th by the tenors above them

Hahah, I guess that can be tricky, though isn't that a major seventh interval between those parts? 🙂 To this day I find it nerve-wracking when sopranos are singing an octave and a semitone above me, as even though I know that I'm singing the right note, it still feels wrong 😆

Hahah, thanks! 🙂 I'll have to think about how I could turn "This song is in minor, but ends in major" into a full song 😆

Really funny and educational!! As a novice arranger this is gold. I have a petition: do you have some musical recomendations for a vocal quintet? In the same vein as take six or jacob collier. Thanks a lot!

Hey Nahuel, thanks for your comment! 😃 I'm not sure I know of anything suitable for a quintet; Take 6 do have some of their arrangements available for purchase, though of course they're for sextet. Ditto The Real Group, which may be better since they're for a quintet. You can also get some transcriptions of Pentatonix's arrangements (though the style is a little different, of course), and you could also check out Gene Puerling's arrangements for Singers Unlimited and Manhattan Transfer, which should be pretty good. A lot of these are available from www.singers.com/ 😉
