A month later, her body was found in a city park. She'd been strangled. Her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was arrested for the crime, and within a year, he was sentenced to life in prison. But then a judge again vacated Syed's conviction in September 2022. On October 11, 2022, prosecutors announced that the charges against Syed had been dropped, effectively exonerating him.

Adnan Syed, 42, has continued his innocence since he was arrested in 1999 for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, when he was just 17. He was accused of strangling Lee, 18, and burying her in a nearby park. He was convicted in 2000 and sentenced to life in prison.Hae Min Lee (Korean: born October 15, 1980) was a Korean-American high school student who was last seen alive on January 13, 1999, in Baltimore County, Maryland. Her body was found four weeks later in Leakin Park; she had been killed by manual strangulation. On September 20, 2022 Adnan Syed was released from Patuxent Institution in Jessup, Maryland after spending 23 years in jail. Judge, Melissa Phinn overturned his murder conviction. My theory: A third person was involved. For those who know the case, you might think Jay due to his changing story, but the more you look into it, he doesn't have any motive, nor does he seem like the "type" of person to murder someone. Exactly 11 months before Hae was declared missing, an Asian teenage girl was found dead and died of strangulation. Her case is also unsolved. Possible serial killer profile right there. I'm not sure if those are connected, but a 3rd person at least since Jay was definitely scared of someone at the time. This is all just a personal opinion though, there's just so little evidence.

I watched the podcast “serial” on it and they have a lot of info on it for the mystery people out there. It’s a pretty interesting case and he was realeased about a 2 or 1 month ago but I’m not sure if he gave a statement to serial. Serial also had a lot of different perspectives in the case so highly recommend. For those who know about it I personally think Jay had to be involved the cell phone records, his story being changed everytime he was asked about it and his whereabouts with Adan and the days of murder/disappearance line up

You can’t compare cases because people really went through stuff like this and it’s disrespectful to say “oh this case was so bad “ no this case it’s worse”. All these case where bad in there own way.

This happens a lot. Including the guy who died in the 1800s and said nothing would grow on his grave for a hundred years, and it didn't. On the 100th anniversary of his death, flowers and grass grew. Even when DNA is present, the next person was better at killing than the one who was jailed.

I remember this case we learn it in class and they believe that her ex bf was her murder but I think it’s the guy she was dating around the time of her death cause they never had real hard evidence that prove her ex was the murder
