Author and film historian Donald Bogle received the 2023 Robert Osborne Award at the TCM Classic Film Festival earlier this year. Named after the late TCM host, the Robert Osborne Award honors individuals who have used their careers to keep the cultural heritage of classic movies alive. Bogle, author of "Toms, Coons, Mulattoes, Mammies, and Bucks" and his latest work "Lena Horne: Goddess Reclaimed," has established himself as the foremost authority of Black cinematic representation, ensuring the legacy of Black American performers lives on. As a film writer following in Bogle's footsteps, I am honored to have written this script for Bogle and Turner Classic Movies to celebrate his legacy. Written by Quatoyiah Murry, produced by Jacob Griswell, and edited by Brandon Arnold.
