This song reminds me a lot of Imogen Heap’s song “Hide And Seek”. I love how creative this project is and Vessel’s voice is just incredible. I agree 100 percent about this song being a special one in the context of the album. If I’m not mistaken, in the track listing this song sits between The Love You Want and Alkaline. It feels like a refrain or interlude. Very cool. I really can’t wait for this album. 🤘

Like all sleep token songs, this one just continues to grow on me the more I listen to it. It’s of course very reminiscent of Hide & Seek, but that completely works for me personally. It’s an ear worm that I can’t help but hum.

This was definitely one of those songs I was like: "I hope it doesn't get heavy." I totally agree about the "Oh god I wish you were here!" part. Something about is so gut wrenching. I'm really excited for this album and I think in the context of the album it's going to be so much better than it is right now(even though i love it).

I agree. Most of the song uses more poetic imagery in the lyrics. And that part is very straight forward and emotional. So it’s a nice contrast lyrically.

I really loved this track, I feel like - in a weird way - this is the Gods of the new album. If Gods represented sleep token diving headfirst into the extreme, disregarding almost all of their pop elements in favour of the heaviest metal known to man - this shows them going the complete opposite direction. And I think it’s *really* good. The hook is memorable, the lyrics are powerful, the video is especially poignant - and like birb said, the ‘oh god I wish you were here’ sticks out in the best possible way. One of the most refreshing sleep token tracks out there, I give it an 8/10. ok we’re coming back for an edit in 2023: this is in my top 5 sleep token songs. 10/10. it just hits me so hard.

Gods does have pop elements at the 1:34 mark tho. Check out a song called Reason, by Benea Reach if you want to hear some indie pop in a tune like Gods.

This is my favourite sleep token song just because I resonate with it on such a personal level, the emotion behind the lyrics, it feels like such an intimate, personal song & it makes me incredible emotional when I hear him just scream out “oh god I wish you were here”

Same here! A lot their other music is amazing, but this one just hits different. It punches you right in the feels, with a minimal sound. In my mind, it gives me the image of a stained glass window - it's broken into many pieces that create one colorful unique image (or sounds in this case). It's definitely in my top all time favorite songs

Again, how does Sleep Token make radio pop sound so artsy and intriguing? I really liked this song, and while it may feel somewhat underdeveloped on its own, I feel it works to an advantage, potentially serving as an interlude. I imagine this is just a small snack before we get the full course on the 24th. Super hyped!

Thank you for not calling the effect "auto tune". I agree this was a confusing choice for the 3rd single and it bums me out how it seemed to derail the anticipation for this album a bit. Still love the track and am so hyped for the new album. Thanks for reviewing! Worship.

Super unique, and the music video makes the song hit 1000000x times harder. Edit: very much agree that is weird to put out as a single, but with the video I think it makes a lot more sense. Vessel had a story he wanted to tell, which while beautifully put into words, I think is only enhanced by the video.

I'm happy to see most of the comments on this video are positive or at the very least understanding that this is part of Sleep Token's overall sound. There are a lot of people out there flaming this acting like its super different from everything else they put out and that musically its not good somehow because of it. Its OK not to like it, but to say that it has no musical value because of the use of vocoder as a stylistic choice is asinine.

The effect used on the track is a vocoder. It is used from the microphone in conjunction with a keyboard to create a synthetic harmony. That shit rules...

Love it. I wish they would've built the layers more to a crescendo but as is, it's beautiful. This has just as much of a place on a Sleep Token album as any other. This band are so experimental and listening to their catalogue it's so varied, it's not surprising to hear them do something like this. The screamed part was awesome, almost like the rest of the song he's trying to articulate something calmly and that part was him just bursting, losing composure for a few seconds.

Unpopular opinion incoming: I really got the Imogen Heap's "Hide & Seek" vibe too, also with idk...The Killers or Bastille vibe? Didn't liked it tbh, it's not bad, but it doesn't makes me feel anything at all.
