Fezziwig. I love Fezziwig. Dickens really understood the way even the worst of us is so very fond of the very cool people we've had the privilege to know in life. It's such a sad and beautiful feeling, remembering them, once they're gone.

I love how Scrooge flashes an ironic smile then turns his face downward upon hearing his younger self promise to "go through life with a smile" on his face. It's a subtlety Scott brings to Scrooge that no other actor has displayed.

I love George C. Scott's Scrooge. Other versions make him cold, heartless, empty; but this Scrooge is a volcano of pent-up rage and regret and feeling, condemned to hide his best qualities until an 11th-hour miracle frees him to express what was always inside.

I love when Scrooge says the reason he danced back then was, “there was reason then”. It really shows how he feels like the older he got the more times have changed and became harder and colder to the point where there was no real reason to celebrate anything when everything is just dying around him. But the tragic irony is that it isn’t the times that have become colder and harder, it’s him that’s changed, not the times

George C Scott is the GOAT - this version is the best of A Christmas Carol!

There is too much going on in this one clip to express concisely. Regret. Remembrance of loved ones and times that can not ever be replaced or duplicated. The simple joy of the assembly of people united in spirit and dance. Enjoyment of youth. Longing for the past and the ability to go back. The way how "seriousness" (i.e. the world and it's fallen system) imprisons us to be slaves of the almighty dollar, and robs us of the joy that is apart from it. Lastly, for me, the joy and innocence of youth wrapped up in that totally sweet and adorable little blonde girl in the dress dancing. If her simple smile doesn't break your heart, nothing will.

3:03 Old Fezzi does his best to educate Young Ebeneezer on the secret to a successful work/life balance whilst hinting to him that Belle is a woman to make one feel 'lucky'. I love how from these few moments you get to know the pure joy and goodness which Fezzi exudes.

For Doctor Who fans - young Scrooge here is played by Mark Strickson, who played Vislor Turlough on Who. It's nice to see him in a completely different role.

@Kihotay George C. Scott is a brilliant actor, and this is my favourite adaptation. Scott doesn't portray scrooge, he IS Scrooge, that scene in the end when he is at his own grave and starts sobbing and pleading with the ghost of the future to spare him is so perfectly portrayed, and then when wakes up all giddy then goes to his nephew and his nephew's wife, and next day gives Crachitt a raise. . . everything is played just right!

That song is titled "Sir Roger de Coverley". There is a good rendition of that song here on youtube done on accordion, but if any one can tell me where to find it done on fiddle, please let me know.

@Mavarin - I knew young Scrooge looked familiar ! Turlough ! I like both the George C. Scott version & Patrick Stewart's Christmas Carol, even though it's actually been 2 or 3 Christmases since I've managed to see either one, for some reason. They're both great adaptations of this classic / iconic story.

@binkle1 Both Scott and Alastair Sim are excellent, but Scott I think does it a bit more naturally without overracting. The graveyard scene is so powerful, that's where you can really see the transformation. Sim, I think, overacts a bit at times, but still does a great job
