This is an incredible Pop song but my all-time favorite of hers is from the rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar when she sings “I don’t know how to love him.“ It brings me to tears.

Yes! that entire album/play/movie is amazing. I personally like the movie cast best - Ted Nealy as Jesus with a perfect singing voice and Carl Anderson kills it as Judas! [sorry.] And of course, Yvonne as Mary Magdelene.

She had a No 1 Billboard Chart hit with this. But at 18 years of age, she was asked to sing the role of Mary Magdalene on the original recording of Jesus Christ Superstar. It was not yet produced for the stage, due to lack of financing and so the album was recorded to generate the needed awareness and funding. She made the role her own in the original Broadway stage production, and was the only choice for the film version done a few years later. I like her original recording of "I Don't Know How to Love Him" best, but she is spectacularly memorable in the clip from the film version, which you can find here on KZitem. She brings so much emotion in her portrayal as well as her voice. Definitely one to check out, Britt.

Yvonne is of Japanese/Chinese decent and she's from Honolulu, HI. She is now 72 yo and atill so beautiful! She also played Mary Magdalene in the 1973 musical "Jesus Christ Superstar" . That is a great rock musical you might enjoy, Brit.

From the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever, written by Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb...The Bee Gees. Yvonne Elliman originated two legendary songs. This one and "I Don't Know How To Love Him" from the musical Jesus Christ Superstar written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. She played the role of Mary Magdalene on the original concept album, in the original stage production, and the film version directed by Norman Jewison in 1973. She played Mary Magdalene for around 4 to 5 years all told between all the different versions.
