A viewer once posted a comment ( can't remember which channel ) about a very disturbing incident he experienced: He had been squirrel hunting in an area he knew well and hunted for years, and the squirrels had made themselves scarce. ( We've experienced that ourselves, they seem to vanish when you're in the area you're ready to hunt. ) As he was driving out of the area on the isolated 2-lane paved road, he spotted a squirrel about 15 yards or so off the road, in the wood line. So he stopped, shot the squirrel, and walked into the tree line to fetch it. After picking up the squirrel, he looked up & was stunned & bewildered at what he saw. He couldn't see the road or his vehicle that SHOULD be only yards away. He looked all around, and NOTHING looked familiar. So he simply walked in the direction of the road & where his vehicle should be. NOTHING, JUST WILDERNESS IN ALL DIRECTIONS. He said he began to feel very disoriented and sensed an unexplainable ominous presence, but kept his calm & began walking.....and walking. He walked FOR HOURS, trying to fend off the fear & dread that was welling up inside him. Finally, he reached a familiar road, and had to walk a few MILES back to where his vehicle was still parked. THAT is one scary story I'll never forget, and may have a lot to do with so many of these people who come up missing under strange circumstances.

Story #1: There is a third reaction to a threat- one which is neither "Fight" nor "Flight." That reaction is "Freeze." This doesn't often get acknowledged along with the other two, but it should: this is what happens when a person goes into a fugue state, or when a prey animal (such as a rabbit- or, in this case, a deer) becomes perfectly still, as if to avoid being seen. For a human, it means an interruption in your normal capacity for thought and in your ability to offer any defenses or to even remain fully "present." I think that deer was experiencing a "freeze" reaction, and that's why she couldn't run.

The latest posting on the Dave Paulides, youtube chanvel CanAm Missing Project he reads a letter sent by a father who tells how he witnessed his daughter from the kitchen window standing stock still looking into the forest,. He looked again 20 minutes later and she was still frozen to the spot. He ran out side to get her and she was unable to move on her own will. She was in a state of extreme fear but was unable to move. She said the black thing in the forest wants her to come but the father was unable to see anything. Letter is worth listening to from Feb 7, 2020. It sound just like what that deer experience.

Whenever I imagine the face behind rusty it’s a wise old man with a scruffy gray beard and a cowboy hat. If you went hiking with him and something went horrible wrong he would never panic he would just start calmly saving the day using techniques that combine basic tools and facts from nature that you had no idea about. The first story sounds like a mountain lion attack. I think the deer was frozen because it saw or smelled the mountain lion. The pop could be the moutain lion accelerating and breaking a large branch or tree limb either on the ground or from jumping out of a tree. The deer screamed when the mountain lion attacked. The final scream that was cut off is the point in time that the mountain lion bit the deer in the throat like all large cats do to kill their prey. Those guys are probably alot luckier then they realized

I find the story about the foxes to be really odd. IF the story is true, I don't know why the guy didn't shoot 1 or 2 of them the first time they started stalking him. That would've most likely sent the rest of em running off. If he felt he was in such danger, then why in the hell would he WASTE rounds by simply "firing a few warning shots". That makes NO sense. When you sense that your life is in imminent danger, you don't think about "not harming" the animal ( or animals) that are TRYING TO EAT YOU......no, you shoot a couple of the damn things in hopes THAT would run the rest off.........you don't WASTE rounds on "warning shots". And NO law exists that puts "the preservation of animals" above human life & self defense. Lastly, I've never heard of any fox "climbing 20 feet up a tree" and I definitely never heard of any person even moderately experienced with the outdoors AND owning a firearm say or suggest such a thing. I sure as hell wouldn't allow a pack of foxes, coyotes, or wild dogs "run me up a tree" and even worse "force me to spend the entire night in the tree with NO food or water" without shooting at least a few of them & STILL have a good several rounds left for protection. The whole thing just doesn't make any sense at all.

Thanks for another one Rusty. Great to have you back, any chance you can end your videos with the song your older videos used to use? The song was emotional and ended the videos really well.

Great short stories. Another mistake the hiker with the gun made. He had limited ammo . He should target the pack foxes immediately. Not give off a warning shot. With wounded or shot dead the fox . Would he changed their attention to the wounded or dead fox. That being they were starving and go for the easier target in the short run. He was very lucky to be alive.

Always arm yourself with a firearm and plenty of ammo..Also, it’s never a bad idea to bring a slingshot along in your backpack. If you come under attack and won’t to quietly get off a round….use the slingshot. If you run out of ammo the slingshot will work with whatever you can pick up off the ground. Always arm yourself if you’re hiking out in the middle of no where.

my lilly I've heard stories of groups of foxes in London stealing people's fish and chips - attacking them until they drop the package and ran.

@RANDY WASSUM Ehmmmm....yes, we have 78.000 confirmed cases and 931 deaths....!? What did you think? 🤔 We can't go out, all shops, bars, restaurants, gyms, clubs, centers, etc. are closed since approx. 2 weeks (except supermarkets, post offices and banks). The whole world stands still these days. And like in the US and in other countries, we don't have enough masks and sanitizers. Since over 1,5 months we can't buy these things 😔. I pray to God that someone will find a vaccination against SARSCoV2 as soon as possible.

@RANDY WASSUM Yes, this virus is really dangerous and spreads very quick. Of course, this situation is bad for the economy, but would you sacrifice your older relatives for a quicker economic recovery? I won't. So we all have to be strong and patient now, and we have to protect the sick and/or older ones in our society. I wish you guys in the US all the best; I've heard that NYC is like a nightmare these days, because of all the deaths due to COVID19 😔. Stay at home, wash your hands, be patient and stay healthy!👍🏼
