I've always struggled with one thing when it comes to both 2 or 3's. That is knowing where to position myself. I litterally have zero clue where i'm supposed to be. If i tried to be second man, the ball would always just go over my head. Try to act as the first man, i don't really have that ability to pass or threaten an attack. But playing as a natural third man is more my style. The problem was, i was almost always playing like a third man's positioning... as a second man. Like, on the other side of the pitch almost layering

Great video. The thing about these theories (great as they are) however is that especially in solo queues you are largely at the mercy of your teammates. If they don't have this awareness, skill or just don't care all of this goes out the window. There is simply no accounting for the randomness of teammate behaviors in solo queues. You either need to get lucky and get the right teammates, accept being stuck on defense 90% or be plain good enough that you can carry them to victory.

Hey Thanovic, thank you for this in depth Video. I do have a question about high rank matches tho. When I‘m 1st man and lost a challenge, the opponent is starting a counterplay (let’s say from the wall), when should I go for a demo on him, and when not? I do that quiet a lot, and my team gets often rewarded for it, yet I do know that I sometimes mess up our rotation, since I‘m rotating back on the same lane where the 2nd man is meant to challenge. Any tips on this one?

Question: on question 1, i feel like Jonk pushing that spot is not wrong as he should've been the 2nd and Svebby needed to be 3rd. Svebby was rotating so Jonk would be faster as 2nd anyway. Is this not the case?
@Sylles_far
4 ай бұрын
Agree 100%. Before he pushed up he must have seen Svebby heading towards own left corner thereby leaving him out of any offensive support. So correct decision to push up as support for first man chasing. Unlucky first man is not able to send a pass in his direction and instead loses a fifty he ends in with that cut in towards goal, which should be fine as team still have third man in the back. So yea... a bad example of someone doing anything wrong. If anything I'd say second man could have been a bit closer to the play instead of reducing the speed he had just gained. If he had maintained momentum, first man (if aware, and instead of the cut in towards blue's goal) could have sent ball with small angle into back wall as a risk free pass. First man must have seen both blue players that were back defending goal line layer and their third was full throttle going own left corner.
@sholonkerz6751
4 ай бұрын
Since they haven't established pressure yet, pushing mid is usually a wasted position and it's better to play farther back to receive the clear.
@Sylles_far
4 ай бұрын
@@sholonkerz6751I think it's a question of play style. The guy clearing ball from own net and chases after the ball is obviously signalling 'let's try to hold on to ball possession". With no one supporting that hunt for ball possession it will most likely leave him in a 1v3 situation and soon after have a possible outcome where 2nd and 3d are caught in a 2v3 situation. I think the wrong move in this example is first man not trying to pass mid to 2nd man pushing up. Instead he cuts in field and goes in a direct line towards goal trying to win a 50 with 2 opp. ready for him....
@sholonkerz6751
4 ай бұрын
@@Sylles_far The first man's goal is to beat the opponents and force a bad clear. Trying to hit it middle wouldn't work here because the other team has all three of their players back on defense which means the middle is already covered. I will say this positioning isn't a complete breakdown since it's the 3rd man pushing mid instead of the second.

This may seem like a foolish question, but what should you do if the play develops slower than you expected it to in a defensive rotation scenario. If you're 3rd man and it is taking forever for the play to even get to your 2nd man, is it smart to just sit and wait or should you try to grab another boost pad? Is there anything you can attempt to do to help the play develop?
@texsion
4 ай бұрын
3rd man doesn’t always have to sit all the way back, they can actually become a passing option on the weak side by pushing up (when it is smart to do so) and becoming ready for a pass and also if the ball even just comes to that side now you’re first man.
@sholonkerz6751
4 ай бұрын
If you have a decent amount of boost then you can literally just park your car and wait for something to happen, which I especially recommend when youre playing on front post. If you're at like 12 then you can use that time to grab some boost.

Question about the quizz around 15:55 my answer was that jonk was in no mans land. I understand that as a 3rd man he pzshed up too far but isnt it his teammate who should have taken 3rd man position so that he can push up field? He was already back and his teammate was on his way back so isnt his teammate going all the way back and then turning cutting him off?
@texsion

The dude out of frame filled the spot junk was supposed to be at so it was actually junk’s fault. If junk rotates there his teammate would react to that and easily have been spaced out to the weak side zone on the right
