All in those neuron connections)
@ALZulas
2 жыл бұрын
As a psychologist, I believe all that diagram is saying is that the neurons on your skin that usually send signals to your brain telling your brain that something is wrong and they should react are being blocked by the beta-alanine. It seems to suggest that normally, when water hits your skin your neurons are firing that there is a threat and telling your brain to release histamines, which is usually what causes an allergic reaction. Because aquagenic urticaria is so rare, we're not sure what causes it so this could be the case, but we're not sure. But your test does give some merit to this being a histamine reaction. I would venture to guess that if you're feeling a tingling, that this is due to the beta-alanine connecting to those receptor sites. The receptors aren't sure how to react, but this is how your brain is responding to that odd connection that is being made. I don't think it's dangerous, but you might talk to your doctor about it to get their opinion.

I can't help but wonder, whether the "tingling" feeling is just how showers and droplets normally feel for the rest of us. And your body finally gets to enjoy it? Like someone putting on glasses and seeing the world clearly for the first time. Or someone who has always been hearing impaired getting a hearing aid.

I read it is common among people that used antidepressants and this thing started for me and getting worse after taking bupropion and not even for long. If I shower every single day, it does not happen (the itch) as often as if I shower very other day. Another rare thing is that only happens to me in my house and not in other places such a friend's house or a hotel. Another thing is that I have a regular pool, and it's not the chlorine. I do also have a water softener in my shower head and it happens anyway. It happens with lukewarm, cold, or hot water. It also happens if the shower is short or cold. I recently found that this is a type an allergy reaction to water since I read comments, and it is this what is happening to me, I used to think is the water, the foods I eat or some type of bacteria, dry skin etc... also it started after a sunburn… But about that time I was also taking bupropion. I only remember this itch when I was adolescent like twice, but then never again. I'm now in a carnivore diet, I hope it gets better. I will try now on stopping my caffeine consumption and to have a low histamine intake.

I have had this thing for more than 30 years and I've tried many remedies. Taking antihistamines like an hour before a shower works but I didn't like the idea of popping pills everyday. The simplest remedy turned out to be taking multiple showers a day. It was as if the body got tired of releasing histamine

I have had this for 15 years. Beta-Alanine works amazing for this. Just takes some time to get the dosage right. Not enough and it doesn't work. Not timed right and it doesn't work. Take to much and it causes vomiting. Take the right does and you can shower, swim whenever you want.

Which dosage would you recommend?
@informationtransmitter599
6 ай бұрын
First, see a Physician & Dermatologist for correct diagnosis and to check with them that Beta Alanine used in the intended manner/doses would be acceptable. Then purchase quality Beta Alanine. I recommend "AllMax Essentials" Beta Alanine in 400g Bottles. Looks like salt. For dosage, as a 210 lb person, it takes 3.2grams (x1 scoop of the above container) mixed with a glass of water (+300ml) to stop a reaction that is happening or prevent one. A small amount above this induces stomach upset. A small amount more causes vomiting. I recommend starting at a small dose and increasing each time till you reach the amount needed to stop/prevent a reaction. I would not recommend exceeding 3.2g per dose. Don't increase the dosage further if the dose causes stomach upset. @@Bee_Kay_

Beta Alanine takes between 30 minutes and 45 minutes to start working and the effect lasts in my experience for about 15 minutes. Taking Beta Alanine for six months at the maximum dose causes tingling in the skin for 15 minutes or so after it takes effect. It also causes other small sensations like tingling in the mouth. These symptoms all disappear after six months of taking Beta Alanine. The ability of Beta Alanine to stop a reaction to water seems to last forever, even after the skin tingling, etc. have stopped. To take a shower, I take a dose on an empty stomach, and 25 minutes later, take a second dose, then 25 minutes later I take a 3rd dose and immediately shower with a maximum time in the shower of 15 minutes. Taking it this way causes a window long enough where I don't experience any reaction to the water. @@Bee_Kay_

The dose has to be enough to cause tingling in the skin. Taking less means its not working. Taking much more and your stomach will get really upset. It comes in pills and a salt powder. To find the right does, take a small amount on an empty stomach. If nothing happens after 1 hours, take a more and try again. Repeat until you star feeling tingling in skin/mouth. That is the correct does for you. After six months the tingling will stop. Do not increase the dose. I weigh 220 lbs and take 1 AllMax scoop (3.2 grams of salt powder pure beta alanine). To shower, I take x1 scoop with a glass of water on an empty stomach, then 20 minutes later take a another scoop with a glass of water, then after 20 minutes a take another and immediately shower. I do not spend more than 20 minutes in the shower after the third does. I have a sever case of this and this method lets me shower whenever I want.
