You are wrong regarding that first “bagel” because it wasn’t bagel at all. You bought obwarzanek which is thinner and more savoury. Labelling obwarzanek as bagel is like calling ravioli as pierogi. Two different things.

Krakow has a very friendly atmosphere. World-class monuments create an excellent background for walks, and the Main Square in the evening is a real fairy tale. The food and quality of hotels is at a high level and at a sensational price. I've been there many times, also in winter.

The Krakow obwarzanek (also: obarzanek) - dry bread with a diameter of several centimeters (12-17 cm), sprinkled with poppy seeds, salt, sesame or other sprinkles. The Krakow obwarzanek is one of the symbols of Krakow, a product with a protected geographical indication in the European Union. The Krakow obwarzanek baking tradition is old. The first preserved records come from the fourteenth century (accounts of the court of Władysław Jagiełło and Jadwiga, in which on March 2, 1394 it was written: For the queen of pro circulis obrzanki obrzanki 1 penny) A bagel (Yiddish: בײגל baygl; Polish: bajgiel), also historically spelled beigel, is a bread product originating in the Jewish communities of Poland. It is traditionally shaped by hand into the form of a ring from yeasted wheat dough, roughly hand-sized, that is first boiled for a short time in water and then baked. The result is a dense, chewy, doughy interior with a browned and sometimes crisp exterior. Bagels are often topped with seeds baked on the outer crust, with the traditional ones being poppy or sesame seeds. Some may have salt sprinkled on their surface, and there are different dough types, such as whole-grain or rye. Though the origins of bagels are somewhat obscure, it is known that they were widely consumed by Ashkenazi Jews from the 17th century. The first known mention of the bagel, in 1610, was in Jewish community ordinances in Kraków. It's often confused with a obwarzanek. These are two different things. They have a different taste, structure and hardness.

i need to say that no one goes to Kogel Mogel for gołąbki and 42zł in Krakow for a meal is increadibly insane the same thing with Beer 19zl on SquareMarket :) Standard meal if you look for polish tradition dinner is about 25zł and beer shoudnt never cost up than 14zl ( the same beer in shops costs about 4.5zł ) Enjoy Kraków !

You can easily survive spending as little as 40 and be full for the whole day. And I mean eating delicacies not rubbish. Rory picked super expensive restaurant to be fair. These were the most expensive gołąbki I have ever seen in my whole life. Also in Jewish quarter you can easily have a beer for 8zl which is like GBP1.8. Nice video but the presenter's ignorance kind of hurts to listen. Cheers

Permanent Krakow inhabitants are famous skinflints in Poland. There is a special word for them - 'centusie' (the ones who count each cent). Tourists spoil them paying over 40 zl for 'golombki' at the restaurants. :)

1:50 no Mongols but Tatars.Tatars are often mistakenly identified with Mongols. The fact is that they co-founded the Mongol empire of Genghis Khan to create the Golden Horde after its breakup, but their kinship with the Mongols results only from a similar lifestyle , Greetings from Poland.
