Welcome back to our garden, my favourite place to be! 🌿 Today, I’m starting without a specific plan, but by the end of the day, I’ll have one ready for tomorrow. Since it’s supposed to rain tomorrow morning, I’ll focus on getting as much done today as possible.
I’ll be harvesting various crops, spraying my brassicas to protect them from caterpillars, and watering my pumpkins and squash. I’ve noticed that larger pots work better for the squash, so that’s a note for next year.
I’ll also be removing leaves from my tomato plants to help the fruits ripen and harvesting the last of the carrots. Some of these will go to the animals, and the rest will be preserved. I’m even considering pressure canning carrots for those months when fresh produce isn’t available.
Finally, I’ll deal with the caterpillars that have decimated some of the leaves using a BT spray. I’ll remove the old cauliflower stalks and harvest the kohlrabi. Hopefully, the Swiss chard will keep going through the winter.
The weather is perfect today-pleasantly warm with a light breeze-so it’s a great day for gardening. Join me as I tidy up the garden beds, remove dead leaves, and get everything ready for the coming days. Let’s see how much we can accomplish together! 🌞🌱
