I had the same issue with a Renault master had a spongey pedal, done some research and it was recommended to start from the brake reservoir then to the furthest. Brakes are solid. The Renault's are generally soft pedals.

What I have started doing is putting all the small bolts, clips and trim pieces along with my tools on a deep tray so they are all together, and I don't lose them. Plus it's handy to move everything around in one go when working one side of the car to the other side. Poundland does a deep roasting tray for £2 which is what I use lol. Plus I can also stick my magnetic torch to it, if there isn't anything else I can stick it to. I strongly recommend people trying this.

I'm really really considering moving jobs to be a mobile mechanic, ive got alot of knowledge and experience repairing cars which ive been doing as a weekend thing for the last 12 years out of my home garage, i feel like working for myself might be a better way forward for me but in your experience, what do you think of the job? are there any days you cant work because of weather etc and also, how is the money is it decent? also how do you go about getting customers is it just from adverts? top work though man enjoyed this one
@kerbsidemobilemechanic
9 ай бұрын
I’d 100% recommend working for yourself, it has its stresses but overall you can’t beat it. Yes some heavy rainy days you have to cancel work but most customers are totally fine with that and understand. Work comes through word of mouth, repeat customers and of course some advertising.

New calipers due to snapped bleed nipples, you can carefully drill them, spray them with Plusgas, then fetch them out with a spike or small screwdriver even. I wouldn't employ this guy unless I had money to burn! Jag' calipers too, OMG!
@kerbsidemobilemechanic
9 ай бұрын
They wasn’t that expensive actually, that other method takes time/extra labour, was discussed with customer and he opted for new callipers, hope you can now sleep easy at night

OK, well, that's logical mate & logic is always good but I've looked on ebay (which as we know is decent place to purchase parts) & XK calipers are around 50 quid each & upwards, so £100, minimum. Just wondering, as a backstreet mechanic myself, if I was offered £100 or even £80, to get two bleed nipples out, would I take it on. I think I'd say to the customer, I'll try & get one out, see how I go but if I ruin the nipple threads you'll need new calipers which'll be a hundred quid. To be honest, when I wrote the comment I'd expected Jag' calipers to be much dearer!@@kerbsidemobilemechanic
