This is so nice and detailed. Very helpful to add to my beginner MSA. I don't know if it's been covered, can you explain when qaaf is pronounced and when it becomes a hamza? "el ahwa" 2:00, "wa2a3" 4:25, vs "faqat" 23:30. shukran :)

Qaaf is pronounced in standard or Classical Arabic but in the Egyptian dialect we pronounce it as hamza

@@miklosnemeth8566 Of course if you want to master Arabic and you’re dedicated in doing so, I highly recommend you learn MSA plus a dialect. Thank you for your comment 😊

@@miklosnemeth8566 No, that’s not true. The only difference between educated and uneducated people is that educated person will be able to understand Fusha so well and speak it properly. But when I’m speaking in everyday conversations (informal) I use the dialect which I’ll pronounce ق as Hamza.

Loved this! You are such a good teacher and so sweet! Learning a lot with every video. I am wondering about the difference between ي andى. I know one is ya and one is like an alif, however for some websites I notice they are almost interchangeable- is this the case? For example, sometimes I see awi written as اوي and اوى.

Thank you Alan for your feedback ☺️ yes ى is pronounced as Alif while ي is pronounced as yaa2 but when we’re writing the Egyptian Arabic sometimes we don’t necessarily write it matching the pronunciation because a dialect can be different than original Arabic
