If I am walking a long way I always reach for the Thursdays as they are so comfortable. Great value for money and the leather is as good as all the rest. Love your reviews and humour. @@theknowsbros8344 horween leather is kind of intended to wrinkle easy because that means it conforms to your feet better. But also just because wolverines aren't pretty enough for you does not mean that Thursdays and their fake cap toes and foam foot-beds are better boots. Maybe for the money. @@davidjohnston4345 I think you’re misunderstanding the video. I point out that the Wolverines are older and that I didn’t take care of them at all for the first few years I owned them. The comparison was about overall value, not necessarily overall quality. It’s not an attack on Horween to point out that leather on $400 boots wrinkles, but you can avoid those wrinkles on $200 boots by using shoe trees and a 30 second wipe down after use. I have 5 pairs of 1000 Miles, and 3 of them got shoe trees and preventative care from Day 1 and look great, 2 pairs were treated poorly from the start and look the part. Thursdays are built solidly enough to be a nice casual date night/work shoe and with a bit of stewardship can last a very long time, both things can be true.

@@davidjohnston4345 the point is that the leather on Thursdays is more than sufficient quality for the $199 price point. The Dainite knock off soles are more than sufficient quality for a $199 boot and the lack of a break in period makes these boots a perfect entry point into GYW boots. I don’t baby my boots, I consider it preventative maintenance that adds about 30 seconds to my transition into and out of my boots but probably adds years to their life. Is there a difference between a $400 boot and a $200 boot? Well yeah, at least I hope so, but if I have a $200 budget and I needed some boots that checked a lot of boxes I would definitely buy the Thursdays. You can make the argument that if the 1000 Miles or Truman’s or Nicks were $200 you would buy them instead, but they aren’t, and honestly most other $200 boots are very specific in their use while Thursdays tend to straddle a couple of areas, great at none but good at several. So that’s my point.

I have to agree, I have expensive boots that wear like tanks, and I have Thursdays that suit my needs just as well. When I spend 2-3x more on a pair of boots that I don’t necessarily need I remind myself that in the event of a Zombie apocalypse the extra thick leather will protect my delicate ankles from bites, yeah it’s more money, but I’ll stay alive. I’m probably justifying an unnecessary expense through an extreme amount of rationalization, but I did just order a pair of overly expensive boots based on the fact that they are green and will help me blend into the bushes when the zombies come. I think that the silhouette on the Captains is very versatile, but I can easily see why someone wouldn’t like it, I see the Blundstones and I immediately see a heartier looking boot, like an Iron Ranger with the bigger toe box etc. I don’t have any of them at the moment (my dog destroyed my Chelsea’s a day or two after I got them) but from my limited experience they were ridiculously comfortable and very roomy in the toe box area, I will definitely buy a pair again in the future, after I have trained my dog.

Do you wax your boots by any chance? Or just normal conditioner? My Doc Martins I used a hard wax, old school, light the tin with a lighter and dab it with a cloth and get to work so a little curious as to what to use to maintain these boots without damaging the leather since it's completely different than the Docs that I owned. However I must say, that I am so impressed with the quality of the boot for the price that I am considering grabbing one of their running shoes but I still think that Beckett Simonon boots for the same price would make for a better value than the Thursdays but probably one that you wouldnt want to wear everyday even though they would cost the same. The wrinkles you see on your 1000 mile is called grain break. Nothing to worry about - it's not falling apart, and it's not low quality. It's just that particular panel on that particular boot being cut from a loose skin area of the hide like the neck or belly as opposed to maybe the back or shoulder. Unfortunately, it's not very uncommon to have a panel like that from Horween. I don't think it looks too bad, though. Some of the higher end boot makers are more choosy about where they cut their panels from the hide to avoid grain break all together, but that also means they're scrapping more leather.

Thursday Boots are the worst boot purchase I have made to date. Took 3 e-mails to get a response when I inquired about sizing, wanted a M width. When they finally responded they said to buy a half size larger than I normally buy. Hesitated but eventually ordered the 10 1/2 size. Tried them on and they were a little larger than I am used too but gave them a chance. Yup, you guessed it, too large in the toe and feel uncomfortable to wear but they won't accept a return or exchange because I wore them. How are you supposed to know if they are worth keeping without wearing them? Guess I have to chalk it up to learning experience, should have took that poor lack of customer service when they didn't respond as a sign and passed on them. Won't ever buy another pair, but they made their sale and got their profit from that one sale. No return business and I will definitely spread the word to friends and co-workers.

I have the same boots in black, you get what you pay for, there is no free lunch. I wore them on and off for office environment, and after about one and half years, the heel counter collapsed, the leather creased very badly and the outsole is worn to the point that they need to be replaced. So based on my experience, they are cheap lookalikes, and are not worth the money. You’re right that you (often) get what you pay for, but you could very easily make the argument that at $199 the Captain is not a “cheap knockoff “ but instead a mid priced boot that serves as an entry point to GYW boots. From a strictly anecdotal point of view , and in a bang for your buck comparison, my Thursdays have, on a dollar for dollar pair for pair matchup, outperformed some of my boots that cost 2-3x as much. I am also keenly aware that my most expensive boots absolutely annihilate the Thursdays in comfort, durability and style (as they should considering the price disparity). I get that shoes and boots are notoriously fickle in how they wear because we all walk, work and live differently, so I totally get why you would be disappointed in your boots if they shit the bed after a fairly easygoing 1 year or so, it could however just be bad luck and a pair of lemons (or I got lucky and got a good pair, of course that doesn’t explain the review not getting posted. Anyway, thank you for commenting I appreciate it.

You chose a Wolverine which is notorious for using crap cuts. Also every single thread on those Thursday outsoles are intact. Indicating they were barely worn at all. Honestly they look almost brand new. The quarters aren’t even creased. No scratches, the welt is mint. C’mon man this is straight up misinformation. I love boots and have seen a few of your reviews but this one looks like a paid job. Which Thursday is known for. Very uncool. Horween has excellent leather and chromexcel being one of the best in the world. You could’ve pumped your little Thursday shpeil and left horween out of it but no. That was foul. Hey there Coleone139 I appreciate the comment. Just a few things to clarify because it’s been awhile since the video. The 1000 Miles were my first GYW boots and I wore them a ton and treated them like crap. I wore them daily , however by the time I got the Thursdays I had dozens of boots, and I wore them all so I wore each pair a lot less, while using shoe trees, creams etc. I had some boots that I deemed a bit more dressy and less hearty that I wore indoors for coaching or office type stuff and others that I wore for more heavy duty stuff. Sometimes they would overlap, but most often not. I posted the video more to demonstrate that if you treat good leather like shit it will eventually become shit, and if you treat average leather with care you can get more time that you would expect from it. I still think Thursdays are a great value, but I know that if I treated the Thursdays the way I treated the 1000 miles they would look significantly worse. I hope this explains it a bit better.
