When I was in the Army (1970, Ft. Sill, OK) I bought a 1969 Dodge Dart GTS with a 383, 4bbl., and Hurst 4 speed. Dark green with a black vinyl roof. Stock wheel caps and red line tires. And I put headers on it. Then they sent me to Germany, so I took the car home. But my Dad decided to sell it and I never saw it again.

I still have my 1970 Nova that I got in 1976 when I was 16. The Nova was also designed to be economical transportation. Started out as a 230 Straight 6 with 3 speed column shift. My dad and I swapped in a 327 and 4 speed. Simple and easy to work on. Great little muscle car. I remember seeing lots of Darts and always liked the body styling. Had a friend with a 1971 Dart Demon with a 340.

+Rob Le Comte A lot of the new media producers have no idea what a good sound engineer does. Compression and levels are to audio what salt and spices are to cooking. I feel like I have already built up callus from constantly adjusting the volume of podcasts, youtube videos, streams, etc. It's the opposite extreme of what radio and TV engineers do, which is flattening everything to exactly the same blaring volume - an over-compressed mash where a whisper is the same level as a scream. But at least you can understand what people are saying 100% of the time. It seems like nobody cares about hitting the right balance anymore.

Great to see Big Muscle back, and have to say again it's nice to see the full videos. Great job with the filming, both in this video and other Drive and TST stuff. Lots of great camera angles and cuts that are well above par for the KZitem world, and would hold up well, even surpass some bigger budget stuff. One critique is inconsistency in audio levels from scene to scene, which others have mentioned, plus has been in other Drive and TST videos of late. It makes for some contrast as the video is so good. I appreciate you probably don't have dedicated audio guys and it's the video guys trying to figure it out.

Always been a Dart guy. Had a '65 GT back in the day with a 273 HP and a four speed. Bought it from the origianl owner. Still had the factory wheel covers. The block was stamped with a Maltese cross and a triangle (along with the "273HP"). Loved that car. It was faster than it should have been. In late '68 I street raced a '69 Barracuda 340 and it was dead even (rolling start). My next Dart was a '67 with a 273HP too and it wasn't as fast. But - red - Mopar dog dishes on black steel. Sweet but the '65 was something special somehow.
@aboutsoundandvision
7 жыл бұрын
Do you mean 273 C.I. not HP?
@Oscarphone
7 жыл бұрын
In the parlance back then "HP" was "High Performance". On the little wedges (273, second gen 318, 340) CI was stamped on the block just under the right head. If it said "273 HP" you had a HiPo 273 with an AFB, solid lifters, big cam and dual point distributor. If it said "273" it was a grocery getter. Same with the 383s and stuff back then only it was stamped on top by the distributor. On the 273 HPs, if you also had a Maltese cross and/or a triangle stamped under the CI it meant something else but I don't remember what at this point - different jjournal size or something about the rods or like that.

+IT'SME I'm very well aware. If you know Mopars from that period, the 4spd was identical across all lines (except the hemi cars, different input shaft I believe) and most of he cars came with a 3.23 rear gear. Both these cars were 3.23 according to the broadcast sheet on the red '67 and by having changed the '65 to a six spyder limited slip myself.

As someone who lives on the east coast where the climate and road conditions are not perfect for getting the best out of a tightly-tuned machine, I appreciate that this program does not exist solely on California canyon roads. Although It's fun to see a car storming down a twisty two-lane, this episode (as well as the Philadelphia one, and the Brooklyn two-parter) show that a muscle car rumbling slowly down a city block can have it's own special appeal.
