I once had a 4 mile downhill section during a race and the pirates of the Caribbean song just played on repeat in my head. Helped channel my inner jack sparrow

I always wear my Mountain Bike gloves when running downhill. A trip and fall one time was all I needed to start doing that! 😳

Glacier Gloves are a good choice if you want something more specialized.

Going downhill, my hypermobility is both my superpower, as is the worst flaw. It prevents me from ever braking my ankle, but if I twist my ankle, it safely sends me straight into that cliff beside me.

I think racing XC mtb racing helped me, that and the fact that I've never broken a bone in my life so I don't know the risks.

🔝! Wondering which shoes for this stuff. Speedgoat iffy!? Torrent, Tecton, something else

Honestly my personal favorite is the HOKA Torrent for super technical trails. However I was wearing the HOKA SPEEDGOAT 5 here (because it does have better traction on slick rock and we were doing some exposed scrambles that day up the mountain)

@@Vo2maxProductions Thanks for this honest answer! I had the same experience: speedgoat better for wet, torrent more technical (I would have prefered a snugger upper though, and better grip for the wet..). But hey, both shoes I consider favourits. It is so hard to make a shoe what that can handle anything the mountains throws at you :) Thanks, keep up the good work!

I like my Salmon Speedcross for when I really need traction on the steepest stuff. Big chunky cleats. But if there's any distance on flatter ground, I stick with my usual Merrell Trail Gloves and grip the ground.
