Our life was changed forever a couple of weeks ago, as we welcomed our Finnish Indian baby girl into this world at the Payyanur Co-operative Hospital in Kerala, India. I had dreamed about a normal, natural childbirth, but was slightly worried before my last pregnancy checkup at week 38. For the previous couple of days my baby's movements had been much less and more gentle than usually. Even though the scan showed everything was fine, my OB ordered more tests and had me monitored, because he trusted the mother's instinct as the best indication of any complication. Thank goodness he did that, because I ended up having to have an emergency C-section. Our baby girl Annika was born safe and sound, without any further issues, and we got to start our family life with happy, care-free hearts.
