I’ll give you a hole saw trick. Your hole saw arbor will hold 2 hole saw cups. Making your second hole saw cup the pilot bit. No more screwing wood on for the pilot bit. For example taking a 2” hole to 3” Take your arbor drill bit thread on your 3” cup then thread on your 2” cup. Now the 2” cup is your pilot bit
@AdventureCayman
4 жыл бұрын
That trick is called "Nesting". Usually it's done using two hole saws instead the wood filler. You place the smaller size hole saw on the front of the larger hole saw's pilot bit. You have to have a long pilot bit, but that is something easily done.

@@BornAgainBoating We've been through 10+ hurricanes since the early 1990's. In comparison of some of themo, this was minor and mild for us, especially because we had only 1.5 feet of flood waters. When we get 3+, the water gets in the house. We were on the weak/west side of the storm, and the winds quickly shifted to the NW which blew the flood waters back into the Pamlico Sound. Because of this, our favorite water-destination, Ocracoke Island got their worst in recent memory..... For us, this time just downed trees and debris.....

I need to seal a Transom access cover containing a quick opening hatch on a 23' Cobia. It should rarely need to be removed since the cover actually contains an easy plastic hinged access cover to get at the sump and live well pumps. I am hesitant to seal it with 4200 because it will be a real pain if I ever need the extra access in the future. Since this is an often wet area underway do you think a gasket would work? Something like an EPDM material (Trimlok) under the flange where the perimeter screws are what I was thinking. Or should I just go with 4200 and forget it forever?
@BornAgainBoating
5 жыл бұрын
No worries! You don't need to use the 4200, that is a little much, honestly, I wouldn't go with the gasket, just get a tube of Boatlife Life Seal, or Elastomeric and seal it up with that. You can get either from Amazon: amzn.to/2A9bbik and amzn.to/2A4sDVn the elastomeric is harder to clean up, just a warning ;)

I can't really weigh in on the differences between the plywood, and coosa is of course, awesome stuff. For me it really depends on the budget and the project. If the budget is low and the project doesn't really need to have the coosa, then I just get the marine plywood from our local lumber yard. When I mess with the coosa, I'll order it from www.boatoutfitters.com. Like for the deck on the ocean master, that didn't really need to be Coosa and a lot of people wanted to see wood worked with, so we went with the plywood. What is your project?
