about a year ago, i was rumaging through a closet at my folks place trying to find some hiking boots id lost, didnt find the boots, but i found gold... my old tackle box from the 90s, it was loaded with all kinds of goodies, including a 5 hook chugg bug... the 6th hook got buried in my thumb in an unfortunate expirimental casting accident... all good now, put new hooks on it, still catches em! finding that box of old lures and equipment got me back into bass fishing after about 25 years of forgeting how much i enjoyed it. thanks for the videos, those old lures bring back so many memories, me and my buddy would fish a chugg bug and pop r back in the day and wreck em, now i get to do the same with my son. Keep those videos coming, we appreciate them!

Hey you were talking about Florida top water baits, you ever seen or used a Weedwalker? I got family that live in central Florida, my uncle lived about 3 miles from Big Toho Marina for almost 40 years they moved about 30 minutes from there now my dad use to take myself and brother down there every August for a week and we would fish all week, we use to go out on Disneys land before they developed it, we would would wade fish and my cousin had one of the weed walkers and he would wear us out, it's a top water bait and I never could find one. Stay safe out there on and off the water. Semper Fi from an old Marine

Hello Andrew, the string lure I believe was a powerpak string activated surface lure. That manufacture made a frog as well. I have a few from my wifes Grandfather's tackle box.

That "braided lure" is called the "Power Pak Spring Activated top water Lure"- haven't seen one of those in many years. No idea if they ever worked but collectors love them due to their gimmicky nature. The chug bug and jitter bug I still fish today- a lot, they flat work. The new jitter bug 2.0- the jointed version- man I tore them up this past spring on that lure. Only problem- I lost about 7 pounder because the screw that holds the two sections of the bait together eventually pulled out and the bait came apart. The next one I got, I took the screw out and put a dab of super glue in the hole, screwed it back together- and now I trust it a lot more.

The jitterbug is my go to top water bait still today. Have caught well over a hundred bass with the jitterbug I have three of different sizes with me every time I go out. Yes I have buzzbait spooks poppers and frogs but the jitterbug is tops and highly underrated.

Personally as long as I can hear the person talking, wind noise doesn't bother me. Like you said, it's just part of being on the water. I love seeing the old vintage lures. Great video man! I enjoyed the crappie video too! Keep it up man!👊

Use that black jitterbug on a hot August moonlit night, deep in a southern swamp, and you’ll occasionally wake up screaming about it 50 years later.....

I don’t think I’ve ever caught a bass on a Jitterbug during daylight. We have a Tuesday night scramble that ends after dark. I catch Lunker several times a year on a Black Musky Jitterbug. Top water at night, best bait ever!

The 2nd bait you showed that you didn't know was promoted by Chuck Woolery(yes the game show guy). I believe it was called the Moto Minnow or Moto Lure. My Dad had one too. When you cast it out it pulled the string out and the tail would flap back and forth. Nice baits Andrew. Thanks for sharing it.

Fresh paint or fresh hooks can make an old classic into a monster fish catcher and when you catch a good one you think about your friend smiling about it.

I joined a BASS club when I was 14 in the 1980s. In one of the tournaments I came in 3rd, plus the lunker - all smallmouth caught on a Chug Bug. The problem was that the club had rules for new "Provisional Members" so I wasn't able to cash in on that!

My favorite was rapala 'NearNothing' in clear with red eyes! Back in day we threw these on breaking black's which hardly ever happens these days. They also caught white bass and hybrids like crazy🎣🎣🎣🎣

I’ve seen one of the old school string activated frogs before. Chuck Woolery came out with a Shad and a Frog in the 90’s as well.

the popper is in my top 3 topwater baits. i just found and used a chug bug and i love it. i lost the biggest bass of my life using a chug bug, he broke me off in a tree, got him to the top to the dip net and down he went, biggest largemouth ive ever seen, well over 10lbs here on lake jordan. anyways, the popper is my go to topwater

I still carry my childhood jitterbug with me on my bass boat; it has to be 40 yrs old!!! Why? I’m not sure. I would never fish it. Barbs are rusty and I’m sure if I hooked up on anything it would explode into a million piecesI think I keep it on my boat, because it it’s a memory not only from childhood fishing, but bank fishing days which in rarely do now that I have a boat. That being said, you showed a lot of forgotten lures that use to be hammers….hint hint to current bait makers! They could start reproducing them not and see a million of them for several reasons. Lakes are pressured; haven’t seen that bait in20-40 yrs. What use to be old is new again. It happens in fashion, home decor, vehicle styling, etc… why not fishing? Us older anglers want our favorites back; with a modern twist. Lastly, who isn’t into fishing that doesn’t appreciate the history of the sport.

Really not trying to be offensive. But dude, if you're going to speak in public or on the internet, learn how to speak the English language. That deep south swamp talk just is not understandable. You may have a lot of good things to say; but, nobody knows. This is really meant to be helpful.

I have an old school box to go to if I’m not getting bit. I was at Lake Fork a couple weeks ago and it was first hot stretch of the summer after a couple big tournaments so bite was tough. Nothing working so broke out old school. Bayou Boogie, bucktail jig and purple/fire tail worm Texas rigged. The jig and BB got me a couple fish. Don’t sleep on the old baits!

Sorry, don't know what that was called but have seen them. My first topwater was a Hula Popper, we fished farm ponds full of frogs. We didn't hop them through pads and grass. Cast one 3 to 6 feet from a shoreline and wait til it settled down , then chug it like a bucketmouth hitting the surface, then twitch it so it quivered!! Wait a minute and repeat, the strike scared the hell out of me!!!

3 discontinued baits that I would buy if I could find someone willing to sell: #1, Bill Dance fat free shad guppy. After the fat free shad came out they started making them in different sizes, they had the big one, and one they called the "fingerling" and one they called the "guppy". The guppy is a killer for me on the ouachita river. #2, Strike King's original fire tiger color in a series 5 and a series 4, this color was awesome and the new fire tiger just isn't the same. This was a heck of a color on the Red River. #3, Cotton Cordell spot, they made a color that was kind of a black back green sides fading into chartreuse with an orange belly and it had glitter in the finish, another kick butt color that you can't find unless you find some old ones.
