Karen , the 135 should not airlock in normal use. May I suggest the diesel tank needs cleaning out. There should be a mesh filter on the outlet of the tank. The 135 is hardly in the first flush of youth. Dirt and maybe a bit of rust will accumulate over the years and block the filter.

You should check to see if the little filter on the fuel tap that goes into the tank, they come loose and float around in the tank, some times they get sucked down onto the tap and causes a fuel choke. then after a couple of minutes the filter floats off the tap, you will be able to bleed the system and start the engine. this will happen from time to time, take the tank off, clean it out and put a new filter on the tap., If the tractor just stops occasionally check the filter on the tap first very cheap fix.

Hi Karen, with your 135 I think that you need to look at your fuel tank/fuel filter I bet you have either a build up of dirt and possible rust from the inside of the tank. Or if you have got water in the diesel. Also I would check as from where you are filling up from if you have got any dirt or water in your holding tank. I hope that it's not water! Think that you are amazing at what you do and your stammering at such hard work. You should be proud of your cow's and those calves look beautiful and clearly well looked after. Hi Karen have a look under the diesel tank where the fuel line goes in there is a little filter that goes up into the tank there. It's probably blocked. You'll have to drain the tank before you undo it or you will have a diesel shower. The same think happen to us on our 35. To be fair it was the original filter, so 50+ yrs was bad.

Hi Karren, Air won't get in for no reason. You need to ask your man to go through it. possible reasons could be a blocked gauze on the top of the fuel tap in the tank. diesel filters need a change or the lift pump needs a new diaphragm.

There's no tractor worse to get going after an air lock than a 135. Your gauze in the tank must be clogged up. Also seen the plastic pipe from the tank to fuel pump getting squeezed closed with the sealing olive behind the 1/2 nut which tightens into the tap and pump. There is a fitting on the injector pump which the pipes to the injector's screw's onto, it's a 9/16 spanner. Loosen a quarter off a turn. Bleeds out far quicker!👍

All mf35, 135, are all the same. Their is a common misconception that when the filter in the tank gets blocked, that it is a built up off dirt and rust in the tank. that is not the case from my experience, It is dirt that is integrated in the diesel oil itself. So when it is passing through the filter that's when it gets blocked,engine can't get enough fuel. My solution to this problem is to drill a small hole in the top of the gauze (filter).You will find no more problems for a lot longer.Also it's a good idea to have a spare tap and filter, 13 spanner, disposable gloves, in your tractor toolbox. Ready to change when your in in the field!
@ronanwalsh7024

More than likely the strainer on the fuel tap which is screwed into the bottom of the fuel tank needs cleaning, when cleaned and the fuel system is primed up and the tractor is running ok for a few day without problems, i would add the recommended amount of actioil fuel additive and fill the fuel tank. Also if the incorrect fuel cap is fitted which is not venting the tank as the fuel is being used can also cause the same problem. Also i believe there is a small strainer filter on the back of the injector pump which may also be restricted. Keep up the good work and hope your tractor gets sorted.

135 giving you grief again, there is so many parts in the fuel system that any one of them could be causing you the problems your having that I cannot say what it is unless I was working at your tractor but my number one guess would be dirt in the fuel system. Make sure the lift pump is off the cam when manually pumping it to get a full stroke of the pump or you will be there all day pumping it. A tip for you is when you get the diesel bled up to the injection pump, loosen at least two injector pipes up at the injectors, you dont have to take them right off, just loosen them and turn the engine over until diesel starts coming out of the loosened pipe nut, nip them up again, turn engine over and it will start in a few seconds instead of almost completely flattening your battery, Perkins engines with C.A.V rotary pump are known for being hard to start after running out of diesel, but start in a few seconds if you loosen injector pipes to help bleed the pump. If I lived anywhere near you I would offer to help clean out the tank, lift pump and the filter inside the injector pump that almost nobody knows is in there because you deserve the help as you are making a genuine go at farming. Hope you can get the tractor sorted with someone local who knows what they are doing.

The cow may have just cycled before you gave her the needle. The 135 more than likely has a blockage at the valve under the fuel tank, you need to unscrew the line coming out of the valve then pull the valve itself out while someone puts their finger in the hole to stop the fuel. You can usually usually blow the pebble or straw out of it with your breath. Put the valve back in with some teflon tape on the threads. Put the line back on, change the fuel filter then prime the air out again. Tractors with the tank above the engine should never air lock if there us fuel in the tank.

Get a local tractor mechanic to have a look at the 135. You definetly need a new fuel filter and the system needs to be flushed out from the tank onwards. It's not a good idea to leave it idle.
