I clicked “buy” literally one minute ago on a “cheap” lens for my GFX setup. It’s a Mamiya 120mm macro. I’ve REALLY been loving using old lenses lately. The prices are often near budget lenses, but with big $$$ quality. TBF, I’m shooting on 50mp. The old lenses I have definitely won’t resolve 100mp.

I made the mistake of jumping big into the Fuji GFX system last year, it was a very expensive mistake. I bought a GFX50 SII with the 35-70 kit lens, a 63 MM 2.8 and the 100-200 F5.6. All told I spent about $7,500. On my first photo shoot outdoors the camera overheated and shut down, and this overheating continued on every outside photo shoot if the temperature was above 80 degrees. I sent it back to Fuji to be evaluated and they told me there is nothing wrong with the camera, overheating is normal when being pushed hard. I was told that my problem was that I use flash for my portrait work, and the extra strain of the flash trigger overheats the camera. I considered upgrading to a GFX 100 II, but instead dumped the whole system losing about half of my money. My new camera is a Nikon Z7II, it focuses much faster, it's image is as as good as the Fuji, and it doesn't overheat. My advice is forget about Fuji GFX system and go with a full frame system be it a Sony, Nikon or Canon.

There are reasons why Canon, Sony and Nikon are the most purchased brands for professional work. To some extent Panasonic too, for video work. But Fuji always has some kind of small problem, lack of reliability or annoyance. That said, I still like Fuji a lot, but if I have to trust a paid job, better be with Sony, Canon or Nikon.

Brother, the newer models don’t have this issue lol

@@amermeleitor yeah, because they are tech giants with a lot more money to throw towards marketing. Especially Sony and Canon. Despite that… all of those brands have their own annoyances. Canon had a notorious reputation for overheating and Sony Cameras are being bricked by firmware for the second time resulting in users having to send it in for service and pay hundreds out if pocket. Those companies aren’t annoyance free. Saying this as someone that shoots sony, fuji, canon and blackmagic

@dr7319 Been thinking about jumping ship to Medium format, do the infamous 'blurryfilm' autofocus shenanigans present in their medium format? My friends in their apsc lineup is complaining about false positives.

I think 100 MPs is too much for me… (along with the price…) now 50 with a faster readout might be great for video and of course great for photography

I love this camera and use it with my Zeiss Milvus and Otus set of lenses and looking forward to adding a few DZO Arles lenses.

Mitakon 35mm f/0.95 II is one of the best lenses I own for my Fujifilm Xpro3. Is so underrated but I like it more than my Fujifilm 18mm f/1.4 and the Viltrox 27mm f/1.2 so is not a surprise to see the brand in your list. About the choose of using budget glass with a so expensive camera looks to me a bit odd. It’s like buying a Ferrari and mount 14” rims on it with 165 tyres. For me is nothing wrong with the lens brands, it’s just the price gap between lenses and camera makes me think if cameras are just tools for get a work done, would not exist a more rational solution in this case where one could use a lower price camera with (i.e) an auto-focus lens. But that’s me wondering.

My ultimate dream digital setup is a GFX100S used, using adapted Canon EF lenses, plenty of which cover the sensor very well. $3000 is way more than what I can afford today, but someday.

What the market need is a low megapixels count global shutter medium format sensor. That's it. If DJI launch a camera with the Hasselblad XCD mount, makes XCD mount fully open for lenses without leaf shutter and put a global shutter low megapixel 44x33mm sensor it would sell like crazy. DJI knows about video, Hasselblad knows about colors and design.
