Intended for skateboard decks this inexpensive kit including a vacuum bag and hand pump is an ideal vacuum press for infrequent use. I bought it mainly to see how well bent-wood laminations -- chair back slats with two curves -- fare using a vacuum press instead of clamps. It worked so well, I don't think I will outgrow this unit, not for a while.
An early stage in the process is to rip thin strips. The shop-made jig I use is described in an earlier video found at: • A Thin Strip Ripping Jig
Just a few hours before writing this I see James "Stumpy Nubs" Hamilton published a KZitem video outlining 3 veneer methods of which this was one. I share his enthusiasm for the Roarockit veneer press.
