This is an excellent less-than-a-minute opener that can work for any close-up magician. The year would have been 1962 or 3; I was a member of a magic club at our local YMCA. My instructor was Gene Tarbell, Doc Tarbell's son. One of the young members did this effect at our Saturday meeting, and this routine has been in my repertoire ever since. The first change was shown to be by Ed Marlo in the late sixties. Braue published his excellent add-on in 1945, and this routine is an obvious use of Braue's famed sleight.
