Tamer, know that your stumbles in life may be for a reason. Without them you would not be educating the upcoming generation of young engineers about possible mistakes to avoid. You struggling right now will save hundreds and possibly thousands of others. Thank you for the information. You will eventually lift yourself up, this work will pay off.

Noice - just an observation with your new resume and it may be intentional - you've shortened some of the months to three letters but not all ("June" in the Volta Energy section and "April" in the Education section)

It's enlightening to see how removing certain sections like internships and GPA can actually make your resume stronger by emphasizing relevant experience and skills. The advice on continuously improving and tailoring your resume is golden! I am planning to make a video about my engineering resume soon as well. Awesome vid Tamer :)

Hey Tamer - just curious. Was the problem getting reached out to for interviews or getting past the interview? Respectfully - if you're getting interviews - your interview skills maybe where you would get the most bang for your buck Eid Mubarak!

Certain companies like Zoox for example, no matter how many times i applied there…they would never ever interview me. While other companies like Apple would see my resume and request to interview me. So, my initial resume worked sometimes and didn’t work other times…that’s why I revamped it. With regards to my interview skills, i’m consistently working on it, but unfortunately most of the time, it’s difficult to get feedback on the interview since I’d do well on the technical interviews based on the recruiter and hiring manager feedback but they still wish to go “a different direction” or “find a more qualified candidate.” Job hunting is as much practice as it is luck 🤷♂️

This is a really good PSA. Being an engineer is actually boring, and you get laid off a lot. You're basically treated like a tradesman.

As a mechanical engineer I learned to accept criticism like a big boy. Anytime anyone is willing to help just swallow your pride and learn that most engineers are smarter than you, that's how you learn.

I will say that in my experience, job hunt advisors have said the one column format is much more readable by the bots recruiters utilize to scan applications. Rock on Tamer!

Salam Tamer- I have a BS and MS in Mech Engr, I have a couple internship experiences (oil & gas and civil) and then one year as a quality engineer for a major defense contractor. I want to transition into the space industry. (I'm also an EIT) Any advice on how to market myself for these positions? The job descriptions mention a lot of technical stuff that I haven't really had the chance to learn in my work experiences. Quality role is more focused on standards and processes. The reason I want these jobs is to get that technical experience but it seems like I need some to get started. Its like a catch-22 can't tell if I'm just overthinking or not lol Thanks so much for the videos, will keep you in my duas!

Hey man, I've been watching your videos for a while now and I just wanted to say you've inspired me a lot. Don't worry about the haters, they just envy your drive and dedication. Also have you considered being an entrepreneur? or a full-time content creator? I know potential when I see it, and that potential may go to waste if you work at a company. I believe everything happens for a reason, and maybe you are meant to be greater than a job at Google or Apple could allow you to be. All the best man.

The Google engineer is basically saying that Tamer can replace his internships with his work experience. For the most part, they cover the same thing, so instead of wasting page space having something redundant, he could use that page space to go into more detail about what exactly he did while he was working at Tesla, Volta, and Serve. It's a compromise for sure, but it places more emphasis on where you are as a job candidate now (which is who hiring managers are hiring) versus where you have been over your career.

The G. My brother and I have been watching your videos during my junior year, and I personally thank you for the content you make: your passion is contagious! We got internships at Mercedes Benz and NYU Tandon respectively, which even sponsored our J1 visas for the US. I am graduating soon with BS in Bioengineering and also looking for jobs in Biotech but they mostly hire PhD's, so I am trying to diversify my portfolio and apply to MEng and EEE positions too. Wish me luck!

What makes me angry though is that one of the main reasons we all went through an engineering degree, is because we though would be better of than almost any other major. Almost like put on a pedestal beacuse everyone talked about a big shortage of engineers. I mean if a political science major had to go through this process then sure, but engineers? I honestly though the whole point of engineering shortage (and going through a VERY difficult degree) was so that we would get employed much easier than anyone else. If I have to go through the same hoops as a Poli. sci. major then what was the point of it all? Because it was fun? Naaah. I would have picked something else today to study,.
