This is part 5 and the final section of my multi-part adventure through northern Quebec, Labrador and Newfoundland, riding my geriatric Moto Guzzi. She can be a cantankerous beast but, so far at least, she has always managed to get me home. Will the same be true this time? Hmmm. Perhaps not. And if she keeps running how will she handle the hundreds of kilometres of unpaved gravel road. And perhaps more importantly, how will her even older rider fare.
Leaving Cartwright after a shaky start, we ride the 85 kms back to the Trans Labrador Highway, then on down the Labrador / Quebec coast for as far as the road goes as it ends at Old Fort. For once, the weather is warm and sunny. Then, a ferry to Newfoundland, down the coast and another much longer ferry back to the mainland. This horse could smell the hay in the barn. I was heading for home.
