One fascinating thing to note is that in the first two _Roller Coaster Tycoon_ computer games, "Northern Rock" was the basis for the steam locomotive on the Miniature Railway ride!

I really enjoyed my ride on this railway a number of years ago and it is one of my favourites. The scenery is beautiful and its a decent ride with tell-tale signs of it's previous history as a narrow gauge line. Synolda is a lovely looking engine and Whillan Beck looks fantastic, the Ratty did well getting this locomotive. I also like River Esk, but River Mite is my favourite on the line, it's a powerful engine and I've just always like the livery and balanced look of the locomotive. A fine video and makes me want to return for another visit some time.

Any loco's that look like the RHDR ones are just fine with me,as that is my favourite M.R,but the Ratty is a close second...The scenery is better than the Romney Marsh though David.

I was amazed by how much low-end torque the steam locos have over the diesels, which really struggled on the steeper sections.

Many thanks Lewis..We try our best with the camera work Lewis, but sometimes we work to such a very tight schedule,so we don't always get the time to film the fine detail shots that we wish we had taken....Your comments are much appreciated!.......Best wishes Chris

@@wooltman Well, as a train filmmaker myself, I know how it feels all the traveling, filming and editing processes. Although later rewarding, it is something really demanding... Thats when you really start to appreciate the hard work on a film. Just like yours! Congratulations! :)

I first knew about the Ravenglass & Eksdale Railway while I was trying to find out on the web the fate of some Spanish 1: 3 scale steam locos that ran under an international exhibition at Seville in the twenties of the past century. I found that one of them , the Pinta, was acquired one year ago by the R&ER, ending her restoration and being renamed Whillan Beck. trainfromspain.org I guess she is the one that we can see in the shed at minute 3:57 in the video. I felt very happy to see her in such a good condition (some of her sisters were scrapped) and with a lucky future in that wonderful scenery. Congrats to you and Michelle, best regards.

Sadly not Andrei,we did see both T&T and Push pull 68's at Ravenglass, seems a waste of power to me when the 158 can do the job as well...LOL! you know Rosie she will get on the cab if she can....What surprised me is she never got to drive anything.........Best wishes Chris.

A great little railway & I'm sure Rosie tried hard to resist the offer but failed miserably lol. By coincidence I've also ridden down on River Mite..... I had a coach load of folk on train and much to their amusement I was offered the ride back by an ex Carnforth Driver..... They let me drive back to Keswick with a black face without telling me duh!! Regards, Brian.

LOL! That will teach you! You know Rosie Brian, any chance to get on a steam loco...Rosie was dead envious of the young lady that was driving one of the loco's (you can see her leaving with a train on the last shot) We are so lucky having a great hobby like this!...Best wishes Chris and Rosie.
