I have 60+ filled journals and I have journaled daily for 10yrs One of my tips is when you start a journal go to the very last page and write on the top “Important Dates” and leave the rest blank to fill in as you go (I’ll give an example on how to use it) Say on May 21, 2020 the love of your life asked you out, you write that entry out and then go to the “Important Dates” page and write “May 21, 2020/ LOML asked me out.” So that way you can find your favourite memories A LOT faster

Wow! I always admire people who are journaling! For me it doesn't work, I always get stressed out, cause I want it to be perfect and then I'll write something down, hate it afterwards and never write in it again 😩

Just before I get into the video, I wanna put a disclaimer for any young impressionable teen or kid who wants to journal, fancy supplies and pens are nice, but unneeeded. Literally just a notebook, regular pen or pencil is fine. A journal is a place for all your messy, crazy, weird, fun, sad, exciting and most defintely emotional needs. It's not supposed to be perfect, let the words bleed on to the page, free your mind, shut off that judgemental brain because it's not an A,B, C conversation, C those judgey thoughts out. Let it be just you and the page!

@@techno3834 It's because like-minded people search for like minded stuff. Everyone here has searched up prompts on how to journal so its kind of expected that we'd be peaceful, nice people that want to help others out since we've gone out of way to help us find peace within ourselves.

Definitely agree! When I was a little kid growing up in the '90s, schools pretty much had everyone get a composition notebook and a regular number 2/HB pencil or cheap ballpoint pen - and that was pretty much all anyone needed for writing assignments and journalling. ^^

Definitely recommend carrying them around with you and/or try out micro journaling (which is putting down entries in bullet point form/short paragraphs, if you don't have time to write out a whole page). Also, definitely recommend going easy on yourself and not treating journaling like it's a chore (speaking as someone that sometimes journals and draws sporadically, but doesn't try to force it as a daily thing since it would make it unnecessarily stressful). More power to you though if you can consistently journal regularly! ^^

I want to start journaling but...in my target language :) I may use a language I'm fluent in when I need to write down something extremely important or quickly, but I think it might be a great way to practice languages. And it would be so cool to fill up notebooks as I learn more languages throughout my life. I have a really tight schedule so journaling in my target language will give me the benefit of processing my life better while also practising a language at the same time.

That's a great idea! It's probably also a good way to help keep a journal private (in case it ends up in the hands of someone that doesn't respect privacy/boundaries). That way, if someone else looks at it, they can't read it (assumedly if they don't know the language).

Okay but imagine all the historical data we're gonna have in a 100 years about covid due to all these people journaling in 2020. You'd be dead and your journal may be a very important piece of history - or imagine after you pass, your granddaugher finds your journals and starts reading them, learns more about your teenage years. Or maybe old you reads your middle school diary and laughs at how your biggest struggles were that math test and how Stacy was trying to hit on your crush. Just a though, to keep you motivated /if that's what motivates you, if that scares or or something - sorry /. I personally really like rereading my old journals, I've been journaling since I was 7 but I've only filled up 2 journals /Im on my 3rd one rn/, because there were times where I'd skip months or even a year or smth, I would sometimes not write cuz I was anxious of my family walking on me journaling so I'd only journal when they're not home or something but as I like to think - it doesnt really matter when you finish a journal, it matters that you did.

Hi there! Loved this video! I love journaling and I know that not all people feel like writing about their day and that different personality types journal differently (go look at mbti/journaling! *data nerd too here*) and some people don't enjoy journaling at all. I personally rarely write about my day, but rather on subjects or projects that I'm passionate about, and deep inner conversations about what matters to me in life haha. I also aim to journal every day but I really find it important to never force yourself to journal, I agree with you : it shouldn't feel like a chore. Some days I'm more inspired than other days. Anyway, thanks for this video, I really enjoyed it!

Thank you for the much-needed advice! I just found your channel this afternoon, and I couldn’t be happier about it. One of my biggest journaling struggles is my sense of obligation to write absolutely everything that happens in my life, down to the detail. I have OCD, and I’m also a perfectionist -two separate issues- and I’m really harsh on myself about every word I write. It’s spoiled many journaling sessions for me, as I end up simply filling up several pages with pure recap of moments from my day - without any of the emotional benefits of just exploring my real feelings. I typically end up abandoning my journal for months from the frustration of it all. So, I’m really grateful for your advice and I’m definitely going to keep in mind your words and try not to obsess so much about every detail :-)

i tend to do stream of conscious, so for example, "im siting at my desk writing this, its raining outside and the window is open but im feeling to lazy to close it. But i guess its fine since i read that you live longer if you spend more time in the cold. I wanted to write down this idea but i forgot it, i wonder hwy im always forgetting stuff as i sit down to the page, maybe its because... bla bla bla..." at some point thoughts become more cohesive and you figure out what it is you want to say or muse about.
