I have seen a couple of your videos, but I really appreciate this one specifically because you are showing the hard parts about your adventures. Too many people show the beauty, the fun, and that's important too, but I like to see the downsides. It reminds me that I'm not (necessarily) doing something wrong. And even though the hard parts, that aren't as fun, you're still having fun. Subscribed.

Been down that creek many times as a teenager. No passes back then. Hippy Hole was a very popular spot for the locals. Good thing about the clear water, easier to see the water moccasins, lol. The trestle ate one of my canoes back in the day. One too many Budweiser I suspect. They must have replaced that with one of the bridges. Thanks for this footage, brought back some memories for sure.

I can tell you for certain, I would ride that bike in the sand every day over what I’m doing at the moment. It’s 25 degrees here in Kentucky. Snowed last night, after 2-3 inches of rain just two days ago. I visit Florida 1-2 times a year, and I cherish those hot sunny days and those sandy back roads. Especially when I’m not there.

You definitely started further up Turkey Creek than most!! We used to head a little further up the road to where the Shoal river crosses CR-393 and put in the canoes after sunset. We'd float a while and set up camp on a sandbar. Then, in the morning after breakfast, we'd finish the float down to SR-90 in plenty of time to get to work in the afternoon. If we had more time, we'd continue down to where the river crosses SR-85 south of Crestview.

Great adventure and definitely a hidden gem! The AF permitting requirement and lack of commercial shuttle operators really cuts down on the number of people. We paddled Hippy Hole to Turkey Creek Park several years ago...it was probably the clearest non spring fed river I've ever paddled (yes, it's technically fed by seepage springs, but it's not what most people consider traditional FL springs). Really makes you think just how much urban development effects our waterways.

Hoping to get out there next weekend. Last week I rolled my kayak trying to get a chunk of someone's broken paddle blade from the water to do a little clean up. Lost my phone in the water. Had to bail gallons of water from my boat. Found the phone. All in the name of cleanup! We were doing a bit of Geo Caching around the lake. I placed two of my own out there. We got home and wound up dropping my kayak off the roof landing on my left foot. Simultaneously bashing my daughter in the face on the other end. So we have been sporting a black eye and a banged up and swollen foot for the last week. This was the first time in three years that I fell in the lake. Had a great time out there in spite of my blunders.

That lake stole my daughter's phone in July. Hers was a $1300. Phone that sits at the bottom of the lake. Mine is a fifty dollar Walmart phone that was found still attached to a battery charger I got at Walmart for 14$. My phone was dried out overnight and has been fine since.

Dude, we live in the area and have visited Turkey Creek many times. We are also avid bike riders and would NEVER ride that road without the proper gear. You need a helmet, shoes, and wear something that makes it easy to see you. Turkey Creek is fun and many locals tube it in the summer but there is also tons of sharp stuff, so wear water shoes and keep an eye out for Jake No Shoulders. Not once have we visited and not seen him slinking along the banks.
