I've never heard of you before, but I'll definitely check it out. The Thirty Years War is on par for bloodshed and brutality with the world wars of the 20th century, though it probably surpassed even them in some aspects.

Most of my research both for dissertation and postgrad focused on the 16th century Mediterranean. However most of my honours & 4th year special subjects were heavily focused on the Thirty Years' War, and at the moment undergoing a project looking at Scots travellers in the eastern frontiers of the Empire in the 16th & 17th century (mainly what today is Transylvania). With this series I'll also want to give some context by looking at both the Eighty Years' and Long Turkish Wars and then start from 1618 onwards until Westphalia and possibly the end of the Franco-Spanish War.

Just think there was another war that had a higher death toll that was going on simultaneously as the thirty years war. The Transition from Ming to Qing (1618-1683) which claimed around 25 million lives. But I would say on a per population level the Thirty years war was worse.
