Bahco Laplander saw, is made for Soldiers or Hunters. It is desgined to saw through bones, plastic wood etc. The Silky saws are the exadt opposite, the are very thinly ground, to not only cut fast but also provide a smooth clean surface after they cut wood and only wood (Big teeth blade for green wood and small teeth blade for hard (dead) wood.) That makes the Bahco great saw for survival situations too! Where the Silky, as you saw again, it may fail easier, ehich means, its a no no for that kind of situations. He was lucky the blade didn't snap in 2 pieces, because Silkys, are also hardened more than the Bahco, which is hardened with toughness in mind. Merry Christmas everybody!!!

TRC Mille Cuori, or Fallkniven S1xb or Bark River Bravo 1 LT in Cruware? Which would be a better performer for general outdoors use, or a SHTF situation?? What would you choose and why? (looks or price aside)
@DutchBushcraftKnives
3 жыл бұрын
well for general outdoor use Id say the S1 or bravo 1 LT. both are very good outdoor knives. If you need a tactical side to your knife The mille cuori is a legend but the grind isnt as perfect for outdoor use as the other two. The steel on the mille cuori outperforms both the others though. So the only right choice can be made based on your intended use.
@greekveteran2715
3 жыл бұрын
@@DutchBushcraftKnives I know it's difficult to choose because nothing is perfect. The Mille Cuori takes another point on sharpening and versatily. I mean, you can easily sharpen a "v" edge with a ceramic rod, but not that ideal for a convex edge. Also you're going to destroy the full convex by putting a secondary smal v edge if you use ceramic rod. Thank you DBK!! Merry Christmas guys!!!

A good outdoor knife should serve several purposes. It should be able to baton wood, it should be good for self defense, it should be good for bushcrafting, it should be unbreakable, and it should have a decent sheath. I find it interesting that the Ontario SP10 Marine Raider Bowie is never in your videos. It will outperform the vast majority of more expensive knives the 2 of you recommend.
@tonybranton

Merry Christmas guys!! Great video, so many combinations for gifts, especially with Mora on the lower budget plus Lionsteel on the mid-upper range. Mora robust for a few more bucks than the basic, sturdier handle material and a slightly taller plus thicker blade, or Companion HD for $17. Another important item that's inexpensive but not always included- firesteel. Get a light my fire rod with a striker for $12 US and ballistol oil to protect the carbon steel for $8 US. Obenauf's LP for sheath conditioning at $14. Hope we get to see you guys again on New Year's Eve. Stay warm and dry out there 👍🏼.
