Hey Mr Gardner, just wanna say i have my first a level exam for film on Thursday. Your videos have been an absolute life line that have honestly made life so much easier for me in a stressful time. My most sincere thankyou from the charters school film studies a level class. I'm sure in 50 years time we will be studying Mr Gardner as one of the great auteurs for sure.

This is super helpful - your videos are really informative and easy to follow. The worksheet in the description is also super useful for revision, so thank you for this! Would love to see you cover more of the films on the spec as your videos are super great for revision :)

Thank you for such a lovely comment Imogen. I've not made a video in a while as it's been a bit of an intense year teaching and I've been working on some other things, but I do plan on making some videos again soon. Let me know if you have any specific requests :)

Excellent video. Roger Thornhill was the lead character played by Cary Grant. George Kaplan was the fictitious government invention for whom Roger Thornhill, the advertising executive, was mistaken. The personalized ROT on his matchbook stands out in my memory. Eva Marie Saint asked him what the “O” stands for and he told her that it didn’t stand anything. He merely liked the ROT.

Thanks Jenna - I love DTRT! Currently, I teach 'Blade Runner' for New Hollywood, but if I ever change to DTRT (and there's a good chance I might), then I would love to make a video on it.

I love whenever Pauline Kael's name comes up these days. She wrote essays about the most mediocre films which made me want to actually see just how mediocre they were. As for Vertigo, it just wouldn't be the same without Kim Novak. She's just surreal. Jimmy Stewart, on the other hand, wears much too much makeup to appear younger. Ralph Meeks would have been fantastic.

Thank you Riley. I will definitely make some City of God videos in the future, but I don't teach Bonnie... so that might not happen for a while yet. However, I think I do discuss it briefly in my Blade Runner institutional context videos as part of New Hollywood.

Thanks. I do love 'OFOTCN'', but unfortunately I teach 'blade runner' for New Hollywood so probably won't be doing 'OFOTCN' in the foreseeable, but maybe one day.

Hi Harvey. No plans to do one as I don't teach that film. But I do mention A.N. and other New Hollywood films in my Blade Runner Context video. If you haven't seen it, I would recommend watching Heart of Darkness, a documentary about the making of A.N.
