Have 1 for 2yrs now... I like it. There ARE prongs on underside to use a 9v battery, if reg batteries die... to get in. It IS a “battery eater”... no audible warnings on mine when going low... buttt the lighted keypad not always lighting up when touched is my clue to swap out. Cell w/ blutooth.. if arms full of groceries, you 90° tilt yur phone... opens the lock ! There IS a rolling bar on top of bolt, so a credit card cannot be used to shimmy the bolt open. Worth EVERY penny in my opinion !

Temporary codes? you can still do that with your z-wave network service(assuming you can develop it). There is no end to the possibilities with z-wave. I'm developing my home automation system right now. Not only I can unlock the door with my phone. It also can detect my devices in the network(proximity) and automatically open the lock. I also can unlock it using voice command with password phrases.

I like the kwikset which just requires you to have your phone or a FOB nearby and then you touch it, like most new cars. It does have a tumbler which can be picked but why enter a code? There are guest keys which you can send to someone w a smartphone and can delete from the app. Not affiliated w kwikset KEVO (i think it is) in any way. Like to hear opinions.

this is great. why carry bundles of keys when my finger or phone can do the job? i would've liked to see both sides of the lock or key-less without a nob. i wouldn't want someone getting through the window to open the door.

Fire hazard code violation if you can't unlock the door from the inside without keys or codes. Secure your windows and get a a window and glass breakage alarm if you're worried about someone breaking in through windows without being seen or heard by neighbors.

LOL talk about an idea that's been done dozens of times already. Why not put a finger print reader on there? That would be truly keyless living. Alarm companies need to jump on this car fast. People would rather unlock their door and set the alarm with one click. Doing it separately is just a chore lol.

Depends how you look at it. I have automated lights, door locks, thermostat, home security, and various sensors that measure temperature, sense motion, amount of light, humidity in the air, various other things. After getting my system in place and programmed the correct way I first saw a significant drop in my utility bills due to timed lighting, automatic thermostat scheduling and adjusting temps based on readings from sensors. Door locks allow me to lock/unlock doors remotely or issue temporary codes instead of having to have keys made and risk them getting lost or stolen. Door locks also can tell me who has entered or left based on what code was used. Home security system is equipped with standard things like alarm and motion sensors, door/window sensors but then adds the ability to turn on lights and activate cameras when motion is detected and record, no keypad for a burglar to smash to stop an alarm. My system can turn on entry lights at night time based on arrival sensors, detection of our cellphones, and entry doors being opened. If on vacation I can remotely turn various lights on and off to give the appearance someone is home, I get an alert if someone is on my front porch along with a camera feed of them and can be clear on the other side of the world but converse with someone at my door as if I'm home

Not lazy, automation gives u more time in life by making you more productive. Who wants to spend their time to turn the lights on/off, monitor water leaks, watch your house, water the grass on/off, open/close the curtains every day, vacuum the carpet, clean the pool, pay bills, lock the door, adjust the temperature, driving back home to close your garage door, know where your family are at instead of having to call them, my car emails me a maintenance report (low tire pressure, fluids), use 5 remotes instead of 1 universal remote to control your home theater system.

Looks like i could get thru that door in less then 1 second with a few cloths to dampen the sound when i use a sledgehammer that will push that monster to a lock system right thru the door.
@garyheaton4791

We'll gee..you can do THAT with ANY lock!! The point is to slow them down until my neighbor, or my alarm calls the police. Not to mention a stranger hitting my door with a sledgehammer kind of draws attention on its own. Don't ya think??
