YES!!! I would Sing Stevie’s Songs all the time but my husband, a music & vocal Teacher wanted me to do some Christine’s songs because she was the best singer, musician, writer & was way more beautiful. So although I’d always loved Christie I’d just never thought I could do her songs. But my husband played guitar for me & then I loved it. I was on fire For her & studied Everything & listened to everything about her I could get. I felt like I was having a heart attack when the news busted out that she’d died.

I saw them in concert in 1997 shortly before Christie left the band. From my crummy seat way in the wings of the Palace I could look down on Christie's keyboard spot. When she played and sang the lead of "You Make Loving Fun" it brought the house down, with wild cheers of "Mc-VIE! Mc-Vie!" Outrageous she told her BF it was about a dog! LMFAO!

RIP to this goddess of music that was our beloved Christine McVie. I came here for my favorite tune of hers that was written by her solely, as with many others in the Fleetwood Mac anthology. Privileged to know her stuff and get to hear/see real talent at work alongside Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Truly one of my biggest musical influences in hindsight.

That voice and those simple, honest, heartfelt lyrics. No 5 octave range, flaming hoops, or vocal gymnastics. Clean, clear, floating on air. A little bit vulnerable but never weak or wimpy. Like your high school girlfriend was singing to you and you could trust her because you knew she would never lie to you. I didn't know girls could be musicians like that. She got into my mind the first time I heard her sing in 1975 and it's never left. I don't want it to leave. I can't think of any other musician who had that effect on me. I don't know if I was madly in love with Christine, but I know a small part of me went with her when she left, and a small part of her will go with me when I leave.

Thanks for the perspective. From my very limited knowledge of the band, I had the impression of Mick being the center but not the creative one. I got the album "Fleetwood Mac: The Early Years" and boy was it crap! None of the creative talents that joined about 1975. I liked Mick in his acting role in "The Running Man" as the revolutionary radical trying to "teach street punks the Constitution".

I love Fleetwood Mac I had the greatest hits CD in prison back in 98 that I borrowed and even though I knew who they were I wasn't really into em much before then, I liked one or two songs but that was it. As soon as I was borrowed the CD and started playing it I was blown away, I couldn't believe that I had never been into them previously. Was a FM fan since their Albatross hit in 1969 (giving my age away here) and discovered they played blues music of which I was already listening to at the time. To then follow them when they went to US, completely changing their music format and releasing some quirky albums. Until 1975 when it all changed. Never in my wildest dreams did i ever think FM would become a commercial success from 1975 onwards. Saw them twice when they toured here in Australia.

Both of them stated numerous times in interviews there was no rivalry or jealousy between them. They were glad to have a woman friend they could talk to in an industry dominated by men. It is still interesting to this very day, Fleetwood Mac had little commercial success until McVie, Buckingham, and Nicks joined the band. Soon thereafter, the three of them began writing nearly all the songs on their albums and the rest is history as the amazing thing about this band - is that they had three strong songwriters. When they worked together, it was just amazing even when only one of them wrote the songs and the others contributed to it. I remember songs she wrote when she was front and center as rare as it was - the last, Little Lies in 1987, was enormous and totally done by her and her boyfriend.

incorrect.....christine mcvie was already in the band.....she didnt join when lindsey/nicks joined...... they didnt even want nicks to join, but lindsey insisted it (his biggest mistake)......also, lindsey and nicks split before rumours and never reconnected, they remained enemies from then on......nicks was a out of control drug addict is why......lindsey is a true musician, nicks was just in it for the money to feed her drug addictions.....lindsey made almost all of the music with christine by themselves....nicks contributed almost nothing.
@Buc_Stops_Here

@@jokers7890 what I wrote is correct. They did not really chart many songs with the original lineup. The one album Christine did before the other two joined she wrote three songs and two of them charted . The only hits on that album I believe. Their huge success started with Rumors when all three wrote and contributed. Her second album with the band. By the way Christine had final say if Stevie Nicks could join or not. She said a late career interview after talking to Nicks she loved her and wanted her to join. To the very end they were the best of friends as the only two females in the band and two thirds of the successful song writers. There was a rough time as you wrote but they were friends again with the drug problems past them.
