1. I sported the Elyse double roll today, I always think that whenever I roll my sleeves back now. 2. I played 2nd violin and then later 1st violin in high school, and then back to 2nd violin in college. Honestly, 2nd was better. At first I wanted to be 1st, just because it seemed cool and a bragging right... but 2nd was much more enjoyable. I'll just chill over here playing harmonies and not needing to hit notes that are right next to my face and off the charts. So while I never played the viola, I 100% agreed with everything you said on that tangent. 3. That sweatshirt needs to be added to your merch line.

What’s the point if you don’t buy ALL the yarn?? Also: clearance/sale yarn and the running out of said yarn is what leads to bulk yarn buying in the first place. You find one for a project and then “WHAT IF IT RUNS OUT I’LL BUY THE LOT”, and now your brain will justify those purchases from now on because Joann’s did in fact, run out. 😂

If my wife suggests buying something expensive to me I‘m pretty much instantly like „of course we should get that for you“ but even the tiniest purchase for me and I get really nervous about it like she‘s going to be mad at me for wanting something we don’t NEED… also, you would love libraries in Europe. Our library in Stuttgart has musical instruments that you can check out like books to see if you like them. It’s so much fun!

Since you made the shirt too big, you could frog it and then you can make it the right size and you'll have enough yarn for the rest ❤🧶
@libraryKate205
12 күн бұрын
Or, just undo some of the rows on the sides, so it's less wide, and then use that yarn to make the collar (if you can -- I haven't seen this pattern, so that may not be possible and frogging the whole thing may be the way to go). It's so frustrating to get that far in a project and not have quite enough of what you need. Then again, I have a tub of yarn I bought years ago still waiting to be made into an afghan -- but it's all the same dye lots, and in 2032 or so, that afghan is going to look amazing! 🤣
@BornOfBooks
11 күн бұрын
I'm probably a little late to the discussion, but I think the collar in a slightly different dye lot of yarn is good! Perhaps not the ideal, but it works just fine! And if people stare, then that just means they're seeing more of your creation for a longer period of time! Appreciation!

Oh I so agree about going into treble clef on the viola! The first time I played in my college orchestra on viola it was Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto (which is a gorgeous piece, I love it...) which also has LOVELY solos for the viola section - delicious. Except it goes into treble clef on the first page and I had JUST LEARNED the alto clef (because I'm a violinist) and my brain was like "no, no, no..." I didn't play the right notes then, but learned them eventually...

I laughed at not checking to see if the music store is open because a restaurant in one of the nearby towns closes anytime there's something big going on at the high school...because of course they hire mostly high school kids... I had major anxiety about turning into the driveway at work because as I was making the turn there was a car coming AND a semi-truck was pulling out of the driveway and taking up MOST of it. I paused in the middle of my turn, but knew I had to keep going so I pulled over into the grass to wait for the semi to go past me.
