hi buddy...i tend to disagree with what you say. i have driven multiple types of automatics, among them DSG is the finest. POLO suspension is on firm side. its tuned for highway and for corners. steering is i will say just close to perfect. with this combo of great gearbox, slightly firm suspension and steering feel makes it a hot hatch in this price point. i still drive 2011 swift and my uncle has POLO GT...which i drive at times. since your issue is potholes filled roads..you could have opted for compact SUV like creta. that could have been a good choice for you. you owned a vento before..may be you should have bought vento again. long wheel base helps for little more smooth ride on potholes else creta could have been much better. peace out.

Ok you tell me what is the hot hatchback we get at 11 lakhs other than new GT TSI . Not sure if drive new TSI TC GT. I had Honda accord and others . Non of them come close to punch of new polo GT TSI TC engine. It’s max possible performance we get 11 lakhs. Period.

Greatly underplaying the engine might. We don’t have any other car In this segment that drives this well so you can’t expect people not to call it a hothatch. According to your definition of hot hatch the only thing we can call a hothatch in India is Mini Cooper.

Loved the detailed review. I have a few questions though, If you say the suspensions aren't tuned as per the Indian roads, can something be done to fix the issue? Would Cobra springs do the job or make the ride quality worst? or Can the suspension setup be replaced with something else? Also, I am keen on tuning it to make the ride peppier and a bit faster. I believe besides this one we hardly have anything else that has so much potential for tuning it. What are your thoughts?

Well cobra springs are not recommended if you are tuning it to the be a peppier car. You could try some coilover setup. That would dramatically increase how your car handles and or feels. Plus if you have some nice set they allow you to infinitely adjust the way your suspension would behave. Hope this helps.

A very honest review of Polo in KZitem. In my options: It's suspension disturbs you a lot in small potholes but in Highways at high speeds during changing lanes or at corners you will thank alot for the same suspension. You can hit corners confidentally without slowing down. And the new 1.0L tsi engine is having noticeable lag you will definitely feel while overtaking once you push paddle hard it will response a bit lately. In sport mode power delivery is aggressive and more smoother than Drive. And New torque converter in car is like butter on Dosa does its job very smoothly after 1st 2nd gear shifts driver will not feel gear fluctuations. And streering knows only thing that makes you feel super comfortable and confident to use. And There are no questions about build quality. And overall practical family car. For long journeys never let tall person to sit behind he will struggle a lot. for city rides it will be good for rear passengers.

If you don't have much use for rear seat and boot, go for Polo. Between Rapid and Vento, Rapid looks better in Onyx variant, and it's slightly faster than Vento. Vento has some one or two more features.

@@BCHOWW I don't think Polo's suspension is that bad either. Having driven an EcoSport, Verna, City, Rapid and now owning and driving a Polo, I find Polo's suspension to be just the right amount of stiff. It's not EcoSport stiff, but stiff enough to provide stable highway drive and not cause too much discomfort in city. It's not as soft as Verna and City, But that I think is a good thing because soft suspension makes Verna and City more prone to underbody-ground contact when laden and/or encountering breakers and potholes. Haven't had this problem with Polo or even Rapid. One thing that I think made a huge difference in my experience with Polo is that as soon as my Polo was delivered (which btw was day before yesterday and I've driven it for 330 kms all over Mumbai), was that I had my stock MRF ZVTV tyres exchanged for Yokohama Blue Earth GT tyres. It costed me 14k, but the improvement was very much palpable, especially on the driver's side.

I bought GT TSI Jan 2014 when it's news had just started making rounds. There was nothing like that around that time in India. Definitely, the build quality of my model Vs later ones have come down, example, they removed the engine cover & one can see the ground when the bonnet is opened. Overall, it's not a hot hatch, it's the lack of better hatch backs in India that makes GT TSI shine. Terrific on highways & you can really get caught up on bumps. DSG at times has mind of it's own. I sold mine in 2018 & went for Jazz CVT. Believe it or not, Jazz isn't fast but it does many things better than the GT TSI.

Also be CAREFUL WHEN THE CAR IS AROUND 45-50k on the odo if you are using your polo in city. I JUST DONT WANT TO SAY WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN WITH DSG. I wish you don’t have to see what I have seen.

@@vivekalagarsamy7339 I’ve seen instances where a Polo TSi is around 50-60k kms on the odo, issues arises with the DSG. Particularly with the people who are otherwise careful with the maintenance of the car but sometimes leave the car in D and brake pedal pressed while on a standstill. Issue usually ends up in mechatronics and that will set you back by atleast 1-1.2 lac rupees in total.

Wow what a non sense review! Evryone trying to become a review junkie leads us to having to watch such non sense. I'm a GT tsi owner since 2019 September. The car is everything I wanted at its price point except one issue - the suspension which makes you feel pissed off at time and that because of the quality of Indian roads, even in a city like Bangalore. Mr reviewer, you have to understand that most people talk about this car in comparison to other cars out there.. especially at a price point/segment they want to compare with. Why do you talk like you expected it to be on par with Mini Cooper? God save all the people who make decisions based on reviews like this!
