The 7500 was a good machine but a bit on the difficult side to erect. As far as I know I put up the last 7500 that we (Marion) manufactured. It was erected at British Steel in Scunthorpe, England. I don't think she was ever used or at least very little. They were busy closing down the site by the time it was finished in early 1980. Don't know where she wound up. At one time there was some talk of bringing her down to South Africa but nothing came of it.

See the man door in the red on the side just behind the boom. Small dragline. 40 yds bucket. Each chain link @ 150 #. I was oiler on one in 60s. With all the machinery inside, the trick is walking from one place to another while the thing is always turning and stopping, at varying rates. Nauseating. Add the smell of motors and hot grease...

Not a drag operato but looks to me like she needs a little more overburden in the bucket losing a lot of money on each swing

That is not a 19 yd bucket. It's more like 40. A dually pickup fits in easily with room to spare. My Dad was oiler /operator on the 7620 @1970. I was the oiler too. Peabody Northern.

WOW!!! The speed on the drag is amazing for the size of the machine! That thing can really produce!!! Diesel power or electric? Its a shame that Marion got bought out by Bucyrus.

UnitCrane514 .... 6600 volt elec AC motors turning DC generators to power the swing, hoist, and walk motors. Look at the interior walk around on the 7800, similar. I've been to the boom point many times. Umbilical power cord about 3 inches in diameter running several hundred/ thousand feet from main source. We operated 24/7/364 uncovering coal. Christmas official shut down.

That’s the most productive thing I’ve seen a dragline do . Most just seem to fumble around doing stuff all .
