Thanks so much for this info - I'm about to do what I've wanted to do for decades and throw myself into learning the piano (a few hours a day when I can spare it). I didn't even think that some digital pianos may be more fatiguing to play over long periods, I just thought the measure of quality is how close it feels to the real thing. This and the Hammer 88 are at the top of my shortlist.

Hey thanks for the review. I am waiting for a midi controller with 73 or 88 keys with some controls like Play, Stop and Record Button. Also Transport- and Octave up and Transport- and Octave down. Actually I don´t like knobs. A TR-Rec, TR-Sequencer buttons (16 pieces) would also be great. For like most DAWs you can use it.

Wow! This seems like such a great price point for value. While we all want Kawai controllers....and the roadies to go with them. In the real world you need gear you can jump into an uber and go to a rehearsal, play a casual gig and ideally have something that is sensitive enough to help you record or track Midi data properly on a high end VST like Ravenscroft, Garrittan etc. This has the right pedal inputs to set up half pedal or volume pedaling. This seems like a great option. Great option in line with the new M-Audio Hammer 88, Roland A-88. Thanks for posting this.

Well of course there was the Kurzweil Midiboard--those are still in demand if you can find one. As for the PC series, that stands for "Performance Controller" and you can do more with those than you can with many dedicated controllers. As for the action, Kurzweil uses the Medeli keybed which is probably what m audio uses.

That’s what I noticed, too. Honestly, that is pretty disappointing. As hyped as I was over the long, long wait for the KM88, it seems to be a let down. I guess I’ll end up with the Korg D1 instead. Korg’s RH3 action is actually damn good imho.

Love your reviews, John Mike. Thanks for investing in others. I have an SL88Grand for live performance. I have an old Fantom X8 in my studio that I love but it’s keybed is going a bit due to age. Didn’t want to spend $1K for another grand and I felt the SL studio was a bit mushy for my playing style. Was looking at the KM. How would you compare the KM to the SL Grand & the old Roland Fantom X/G?

Hey John, as always thanks for the vid. I'm in the market for purchasing a weighted 88 key midi board. How much do the button functions matter to you on the board itself?? I'm obviously noticing that the boards get higher in price as the nobs and faders increase on the board. Any feedback is appreciated!

Hi John. I'm a huge fan of your channel. I just ordered a Nektar Impact LX49+ mainly for the 80% DAW control with the added 20% bonus of the synth keys. I am a guitarist - not a trained pianist. I was wondering if you could do a review on an affordable 88 key midi keyboard with no DAW controls - just a nice keybed.

I like your reviews. Mostly focusing on the important part - the keybed. I find it also interesting that you review both low cost and high cost products. I'm confused though by the continual use of the word 'dope.' I was under the impression that dope is slang for heroin or marijuana and sometimes also to call someone slow or stupid (I suppose one could become a dope by using dope?). Seems odd to me to use a term for something awful and mentally enslaving in place of something positive. Especially for a Gospel player.
@Johnmike
3 жыл бұрын
Simple…I’m a 80s baby…from late 80s-late 90s…”Dope” was a Homonym synonymous with the word “cool” …which could also be used to reference drugs…and like you said could be used to call someone stupid…as with any homonym…meaning is implied in context with the sentence it is used in…so if I say…”man this is really dope” I’m using it as a verb…to describe something…that combined with the inflection and excitement in my voice communicates my excitement that I think it’s cool….but if I say…”man you ARE A dope” ….then I’ve switched up the context…it’s no longer a verb…it’s a pronoun…and I am using it to describe what I think you are….if I say “man let’s get this dope” then I’m using it as a regular noun to describe what “this” is in the sentence structure…thousands of other homonyms that we use in everyday language…sorry that you’ve never heard the word “dope” used in its homonetical sense…

You obviously have never heard of the legendary KURZWEIL MIDIBOARD controller ( the finest and ONLY 88 note POLYPHONIC after-touch midi keyboard ever made by anyone; Ensoniq did manufacture a 61 key synth action workstation w/ poly after-touch). Hi-end Players (including Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys) use it to this day and the units are still in strong demand, though out of production. Your presentation was poorly prepared and minimally informative other than your beautiful piano hands lol.
