I can’t be the only millennial that prefers the traditional hymns to the modern ones?

This is our Lutheran National Anthem. The recordings I’ve heard previously never do this piece justice. This is exactly how it should be played and performed. Its not a slow paced piece. I’m speaking to all who have recorded this piece at a snails pace.

'A Mighty Fortress' has certainly been called the "Lutheran National Anthem," and for good reason! 😊 Playing it at a proper pace is undoubtedly key. As I write this, I realized that I have not recorded this in awhile... I should record this again sometime soon!! 😁

@@JeffWindoloski-You are a magnificent organist. And I follow another comment, using the analogy my wife and I always talk about - there is no better book of worship than our ELCA Green Hymnal from the early 1970s. No disrespect to other Lutheran houses of worship. I merely wanted to provide a descriptive context to my Lutheran history.

@@bardwelldavidjelliff7632 Believe it or not, I grew up in the ELCA and used the Lutheran Book of Worship for all of my childhood and teenage years. That hymnal had some fantastic hymns in it. My favorite was always 'Christ is Risen! Alleluia!' I would be ecstatic to see that find itself into one of the LCMS hymnals in the future =)

The music from the Lutheran church is electrifying. Is it not? Nothing else is comparable & I cannot even tell you, how many times, throughout my life, these hymns have made me break down into tears.

The Lutheran church has certainly been gifted with a beautiful hymnody that proclaims the truths of Scripture in the forefront of magnificent musical settings; in tough and challenging times, the hymns certainly remind us that God loves us and is good even when life is bad 🙏

Der ursprüngliche Rhythmus für "Ein Feste Burg" ist mit Sicherheit der beste. Ich wünschte auch, viele der alten deutschen lutherischen Hymnen würden zu unseren Gesangbüchern zurückkehren.

This is one of my favorite hymns. Its one of the few that I have studied up on the history and this was written at the beginning of the reformation by Martin Luther. What makes me sad is that I’ve met a number of people who think Martin Luther is just a relative of Martin Luther King. They have no idea who he is nor know much about church history. While MLK was definitely a great man as well, he was a completely different person who had no relation to Martin Luther.
