I feel like if you are going to do this tiered approach you should maybe review 2 or 3 in a tier at once and have a more comparative review if you’re a bit bored with the process, it would probably be more efficient from a production pipeline as well. It does mean less videos which might be bad for your algorithm. Just thinking out loud. As always great work.

I bought the Minisforum HX90G last december and, for the moment, I'm very satisfied. I didn't want to buy a big computer, I would like to buy a mini-pc but I'm a gamer too, I need a powerful GPU to play with my AAA games and more recent consoles emulation (Xbox, Xbox360, Switch...). It is possible with HX90G at a reasonable HD resolution (1920x1080) and I limited fps to 100. I can play at higher resolution or more fps but I choose to make a compromise to obtain better performance. I'm totally satisfied to play my games in HD on a big TV. If you want to play at 4K with more than 100 fps, bypass this product, it's not for you, you 'd better buy a more powerfull and onerous pc. This product and the new one HX99G are good compromise between price/size/performance.

Im totally okay with you not doing as many mini pc reviews but i know this one was pretty special when it comes to form factor. I would suggest maybe review "roundups" where you can lump these tiers together in a batch and review them all while comparing their feature sets etc. (ex roundup 5 budget sub-300 mini pcs once a month or two and compare what they offer for the price directly to one another.) I know this probably also isnt ideal because frequent uploads are best for algorithm retention and what not but i thought Id suggest it otherwise. Have a great day!

You read my mind at about the 14 minute mark when you noted the name of the channel and the amount of time spent on more modern fare. Not complaining, just had a chuckle about it. I don’t know if a better benchmarking procedure than how you’re doing it, though I do wonder if there’s a Russ-tastically unique way to execute testing? As you allude to, the actual bench numbers mean little to some of us, and the context is always where it’s at. I think the brilliance of your work is your special knack for presentation style, for example your openers are a masterclass in expectation setting and your conclusions are also beyond reproach. The middles are starting to feel like every other KZitemr’s content, and I’m wondering if there’s a way for you to stand out more/be more you? How do you bring more butter into things, so to speak (metaphorically, of course)? Again, not complaining, not hating, LOVE your work. It just occurs to me today that I don’t want you to get lost in the shuffle. You are distinct in your extensive, thorough sense of detail and organization and your ability to effectively communicate even difficult or convoluted concepts is top tier. I don’t have a suggestion, I’m not the smartest guy in the room by any means, just curious and wondering aloud how you might iterate and continue to grow your style. I don’t know if any of that makes any sense at all, but again I mean it with love and not as any kind of trolling critique. I watch every video start to finish, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think about how you might continue to surprise and delight moving forward. Being selective about the hardware and your tier system is a great direction, but how can you make benchmarking your own, is perhaps what I might be challenging you to consider along the way?

I recently added and removed the HX99G and its cousins from my Amazon cart like a dozen times during a sale, but ended up buying a used built to order desktop for about the same price (Ryzen 5800X, RTX 3070, 32GB RAM, 1TB NVMe, 4+6 TB HDDs). It has a terrible case, fan connections are wrong, and the cable management is atrocious so I spent a couple days working on it, so it did kinda make me wish I got something like the Minisforum. But it's been fun working on a desktop again after a few years of using a potato laptop, and I'm looking forward to setting up new and retro games on it!

@@kindofabigdyl I moved from the US to Japan, so you might be out of luck, but the place is called Goodwill (not the donation/thrift store). It was relatively affordable because it was a PC built by a competitor of theirs, which was listed on their online shop as "No Name Brand built-to-order PC," which I thought was pretty funny. I was hesitant on buying amateur built PCs, but thought it was reasonable to buy something like this. I think the reason why the previous owner sold it is that they made upgrades but screwed up and gave up. It has Noctua fans which I think were added, but it's not using the right type of splitter so the fans are at 100% speed at all times. One of the front USB ports didn't work, probably bumped it. Some cables were bunched with twist ties. I would have been frustrated with this PC if I wasn't such a computer nerd. I was checking prices to build a new rig, and other than upgradeability, the HX lines were a good deal. Sorry that I can't share some secret warehouse full of decent used PCs, but those HXs are rad!

Honestly the thing I get the most out of in reviews like this is a comparison with the closest competition. Does it perform better than the next most expensive or next cheapest model you've reviewed? If a cheaper model has better performance then it had better have something remarkable about it to make it worth while. If it performs better than a more expensive model then that's good to know that the more expensive model is no longer worth it. That spreadsheet comparison was useful.

Do you think my games would run smoothly if I stored my roms collection on an external hard drive (mechanical)? I'd need about 8 - 16 To storage capacity, so I guess this would be a fraction of the price vs adding internal SSD to a HX99G. This is for my living room and the small form factor factor is important to me, ideally it would fit on a shelve of my media unit. Another option would be to buy a custom pc with an 8-16 To HDD, but this imply to sacrifice the small form factor and I expect it to be twice the price of the HX99G (1500$).
