I watched both part 1 and 2 of this man's life story. Wow. The stuff you have gone through in your life, and to come out on the other end of it, still being able to smile. I hope that life turns out for the better on this end of it. The way you tell your story very well spoken, no pausing and having to think, no back tracking or talking in circles. You are as Mark stated a good story teller. A handsome older gentleman. We all have that one thing that we dont like about ourselves. I'm guessing it's your receding hair line, that only makes you look more distinguished. I'd love to hear more about you and the life (if possible). Very intriguing.

My grandmother Savino grew up during prohibition in the Bronx. She never spoke to anyone about things she had witnessed in her neighborhood growing up except to her immediate family in her household. One day in 1931 she was shoved down by a tall gentleman that she never seen before in the neighborhood and as the man pushed her he said something along the lines of get back little girl or look out little girl. At this this time she witnessed Joe the Baker Catania got blasted across his forehead and upper torso. Then he was thrown into a cab and the cab took off with the Baker to Fordham hospital. Google wasn't out when she would tell the story to all us grandkids . I think she told us her stories when I was like 4 or 5 and every time it was exactly the same as before. The tall man she thinks was a lookout for the shooter which ultimately saved her life as she was headed back to school. Well that tall man was never seen by her in the neighborhood ever again. She also saw who shot the Baker and where the shooting came from. He passed away the following day on February 4th 1931.

I am familiar with the life- my step father was a Sicilian Dallas transplant from New England and the nature of these events resonates with me. I would really love the opportunity to talk with this guy and write an untapped perspective of this story. “Tommy”- your words have moved me. Our values are aligned. The thing with organised crime cases is that while the cost may seem exorbitant to prosecute them, sort of got to look at the way that their proceeds of crime will be garnished, all their stuff gets confiscated and sold. With the added bonus that those hubs of criminal activity in an area or even a country can be depleted. Sort of a preventative means to stopping further criminal acts and the costs involved in everything from locking up the local dealer or bookie and the junkies or loan sharks out there committing basic street crime- all the way up to the big rackets involving cops and politicians. In some criminal cases involving specific criminals if the state gets hold of everything they own and even fire-sales it all, they might actually make a profit for the state! Cost 2mil for a confession, 3mil worth of employment costs and you thrown a big guy into prison minus his gear and bank account worth 40-50mil, you're not exactly going backwards
@JonDeth

You're loosely touching on why Democrats are pro crime and Republicans are not. My great Uncle "Mooley" was president of the Cleveland Teamsters, 100% Italian and his brother, my Grandfather, was the biggest fence and bookie in all of Northeast Ohio. Countless Italians I've met always suggest that their family is connected but 99.999% are full of shit. My family was documented and known with infamy which is nothing I'm proud of but I still have a handful of captivating stories and have a sharp eye for when these hardcore mafia mobsters tell stories. Most weave a significant amount of lies into it which I have a deeper theory on. We have no idea of knowing which of these high profile guys were either informants for decades or were flat out undercover from day 1 in their criminal career. I have a lot of firsthand knowledge about people the world believes to be dead that I know factually having met them they are very much alive. *While that regards celebrities and my brother is a hugely powerful and respected casting director, in watching crime stories I've come to realize we can't trust much of anything they tell us.* Some are truthful, some are half truthful, some are chronic liars and some were never truly criminals, they were undercover or turned informant very early on because the system will let them keep what they earn in a limited capacity. When it comes to crime today, I have attorneys and judges in my family from none other than my great uncle mobster! lol. He was definitely not an informant or undercover but I don't want to digress. My point being I'm deeply connected, knowledgeable and well educated in general. Democrats in power rely heavily on crime for their income streams coming in externally and outside of their elected or appointed positions, Republicans simply do not and it's why they're the party of traditional values, laws, morality and onward granted that doesn't mean much when we're talking about people in the government. Anyway, crime festers because law enforcement is an industry and makes people incredibly rich. Because of civil forfeiture, auctions, fire sales etc., even the low level street beat cops can end up buying a house for 10 grand or a 60 thousand dollar car for 3 or 4. *As we also know, most law enforcement are Republicans so you do the math.* One party has their hands in the crime and the other has a blind eye to it with limits. My grandfather and Great Uncle paid off everyone and anyone back in the day and would literally go to dinner with judges, mayors, chiefs etc.
@JonDeth

Trivia: Taylor and Racine was where Sean Connery’s character lived in “The Untouchables.” Maybe not-so realistic for an Irishman, of that era to live there?
