I also discovered so many wonderful music artist through these movies, Including Olivia Ruiz who makes wonderful music I recommend checking out. I'm honestly surprised I never even heard of it since it came out back in 2011, my parents used to get a lot of those cheap DVDs of low budget kids movies and me being a huge fan of spooky kids cartoons this would have looked right up my ally. Grated it's actually not scary at all once the monster is revealed, he isn't even all that creepy looking imo, but just from the name and cover I just know I would have been begging my parents for it if I saw it

While I like this english version of the song, there's a lot of really clever and beautiful play on words and themes in the original french version that are lost in translation. Here the song is mostly about how beautiful the river is, but in the original, they describe the beauty of the river specifically while it is flooding Paris, and the relationship of the singer to the river stems from it being called "the Seine" which is pronounced the same as "the stage" in french. So the song shifts to the beauty of the singer Lucille. The moon shines beautifully on the River, the same way Lucille shines on the stage, both in hard times for Paris. Here is a direct translation of the original lyrics to show you what I mean. She leaves her bed, so confident The Seine x3 So beautiful, she bewitches me The Seine x3 So very clear, the moon is on The Seine x3 You are not drunk, Paris is under The Seine x3 I don't know, don't know Do not know why we love each other like that, the Seine and I I don't know, don't know Do not know why we love each other like that, the Seine and I Extra Lucille, when you are on The Stage x3 Extravagant, when the angel is on The Stage x3 I don't know, don't know Do not know why we love each other like that, the Seine and I I don't know, don't know Do not know why we love each other like that, the Seine and I On the bride of the Arts My heart trembles Between two waters The air is so good this air so pure I breathe it in Our reflection standing on this bridge Tu tu tu tu We loves each other like that, the Seine and I x4 Just felt like sharing this with anyone who couldn't understand the original, since I Like it so much.

STOP SAYING ITS A LOW BUDGET MOVIE Its not because it's a french movie that it means it's cheap, it had a $32M budget, Vanessa Paradis (famous singer and actress) plays Lucille in both the french and english version, Mathieu Chedid (M) who is a major french singer plays Francoeur, Sean Lennon plays Francoeur for the english version, Gad Elmaleh plays Raoul in french (he's a well known comedian), we had Julie Ferrier (famous french actress) and even François Cluzet (famous french actor) So like, thats FAR from a low budget animation movie It is a really well known movie in Europe, its considered a Classic in France, for adults and children, the song La Seine was everywhere on the radio when the movie came out 🧍♀️

Years ago, I remember my family and I having watched the movie maybe 3 times in one week. I even tried to convince my HS French teacher to play this movie in class, for us. It just makes sense to watch a French movie in a class teaching French. Right? No! Instead she played Disney's Frozen like 18 times in a row, and would MAX the volume during "Let it Go". Then had the whole class perform that song in French in a contest against the Spanish class who sang their own song. Now I absolutely despise anything Frozen.

Hey ! For the persons who don’t know it’s a French movie and La Seine is the river which is in Paris but it’s before everything a play on word with « la Seine » and « la scène » who mean the stage !

Man I thought this song was so good I thought "There is no way this originated from a low budget kids movie."

When I was just a small lass I remember singing this song constantly, this movie was one of my obscure childhood memories. I used to have a huge crush in the main singer. She was so pretty. Anyways. 10/10 movie

I could listen to this song over and over again and never get bored of it
This movie was a big part of my childhood. I loved it so much growing up I was surprised no one knew it in school. It’s so underrated, but I’m glad I got to see it 🥰 I’m sad I lost it tho, I would’ve loved to show my brother.

They really said "what if we mix the premise of Phantom of the Opera, The Fly and Frankenstein?" And it worked somehow

She's resplendent, so confident La Seine, La Seine, La Seine I realize, I'm hypnotized La Seine, La Seine, La Seine I hear the moon singing a tune La Seine, La Seine, La Seine Is she divine, Is it the wine La Seine, La Seine, La Seine I don't know, don't know, so don't ask me why That's how we are, La Seine and I I don't know, don't know, so don't ask me why That's how we are, La Seine and I I feel alive when I'm beside La Seine, La Seine, La Seine From this angle like an angel La Seine, La Seine, La Seine I don't know, don't know, so don't ask me why That's how we are, La Seine and I I don't know, don't know, so don't ask me why That's how we are, La Seine and I Upon the bridge My heart does beat Between the waves We will be saved The air we breathe Can you believe? Learn to forgive upon the bridge That's how we are, La Seine and I That's how we are, La Seine and I That's how we are, La Seine and I That's how we are, La Seine and I

I still remember this movie from when I was little but as I got older I forgot the name but I remembered the beat to the song and once I reminisced a like me I realized that this song was the one that changed my whole taste in music from when I was little and still now, crazy.
