I just have to say, for this being her first acting job, Iman was phenomenal and probably had a more lasting MCU impression than most of the characters we've seen the past few years. I love all of the characters, and Muneeba as always was so adorable during the family scene.

The mention of "mutation" officially introduces the concept of mutants in the MCU. Kevin Feige said that Ms Marvel would be an important series for the future of the MCU, and that's why(among other things)

When he says "mutation" listen to the music. It's the X-Men animated series theme music. The SAME music that played when Prof X was shown in Dr. Strange 2. It's yet to be seen if Kamala is one of the X-Men, but this version of her is 100% confirmed as a Mutant. The FIRST MCU 616 mutant introduced, since the Prof. X in Dr. Strange 2 was from an alternate world. This was the biggest moment in the MCU since the snap.

One of the ways I felt this show was true to the comics was that Kamala is always building community. Other superheroes are constantly, "No, I have to do this alone!" She's constantly engaging her neighbourhood or other young heroes to work together. I reread the comics after the show started, and it's so interesting that the first time she meets Carol Danvers is during an Incursion. And before Carol goes off to fight another universe, she helps Kamala with a local thing, and then Kamala spends the rest of the time helping set-up a refuge at the school and protecting people locally, even getting some looters to help out. That's one of the real beauties of those comics and that character for me, and I felt like they really honoured it in this episode. Also, sometimes the comics are just straight-up goofy, and the action scene in the school where they fought Damage Control with softballs and exploding goo was classic Ms Marvel comics.

Great reactions and reviews of this entire series. Dating is a complex and personal matter, and I wouldn't be surprised if Nakia does decide to date, especially with the purpose of getting married, considering how socially progressive she is. It is refreshing to have a show with female protagonists where romantic interests aren't the main focus though and I hope they keep that going.

I wouldn't be surprised if Disney puts this show under the CHILDREN’S & FAMILY EMMY AWARDS. The cutoff was May 31st, so if you don't see it under next year's primetime Emmys, it will probably be under the Children's and Family Emmy. Though it's new this year, it was actually pulled from the Daytime Emmys. Netflix nominated and won Emmys for Julie and the Phantoms and plans to nominate Heartstopper in this manner too.

Thanks for doing this. As an older white guy it was really helpful and informative watching along with you. Not to mention entertaining to see such joy. For once we have a superhero that is a superhero geek like so many of us, she's likable and kind, and honestly just the opposite of what we get all too often which are anti-heroes and people that aren't so likable outside of their powers. It's terrific to see a superhero with a loving supportive family too for that matter. They better not go Peter Parker on any of them...EVER. I think Kamala is a top tier superhero and it's so awesome to know someone who shares more of a common background with her feels the same. The casting was amazing and I for one cannot wait for more! Now we all begin the long wait of a year....

Watching you bop to the beats, shake your fist in anger at Deever and quiver at those surprising moments made this reaction the best for me. I sound like a parrot repeating this in every reaction but I genuinely believe Iman Vellani is the new heart of the MCU, her charisma and likeability is peerless and unmatched. This show didn't have great villains but that was due to the limited time and also because it just wasn't necessary. The family, the history, the culture, the cast, the humour, the coming of age, the social injustice, the powers, the visuals, the bonds, those were the real stars and the show's selling points that all combine to make this a one of a kind MCU show. I can't wait to see her in The Marvels she will bring so much more to that movie than Carol Danvers ever could.

I agree!!! I can really get behind Iman being the new RDJ, and can't wait for these shows to come together into the young avengers. Imagining her with Kate already seems to cool. Mask from Bruno, name from father, outfit from mother. A little bit of different parts of her life to make who she is. Marvel can officially use the word mutant since them and fox are owned by Disney, which is why we had Prof X in Dr Strange 2. This opens the doors to far more possibilities of shows and movies. Looks like you may have missed the bit of 90s X-Men cartoon theme playing right as Bruno was saying mutation. Hopefully you caught the comic writer G Willow Wilson in the tiktok montage. Thanks for sharing your love and enthusiasm for Ms. Marvel and all your time and effort making these videos! Watching them was a big part of my introduction to this endearing and groundbreaking character. In answer to your question about the villain of the season: I'm glad that they didn't make Kamran a villain like he was in the comic book. Props to Bisha K. Ali for that decision ("I will not write a young Muslim boy as a bad guy.") and for reminding us that the real villain is prejudice, lack of empathy, and the unchecked abuse of power. Ms. Marvel, and her family, friends, and community, are the heroes we need during these difficult and divisive times. P.S. I would love to hear your post-season reflections and hopes for Ms. Marvel's future. I'm crossing my fingers that there will be a second season!

If they follow the comics Kamala and Carol have a brief rough patch when an enhanced who can see possible futures predicts disasters and Carol wants to go all Minority Report whereas Kamala thinks its dangerous to detain or arrest people for something they might do. They also end up on opposite sides when the government tries to ban underage super heroes. Either of which could be easily adapted to be a season two storyline.

27:40 Kamran's car was actually a Porsche Panamera but I like where your mind is at! Bruno should drive an affordable Model 3 with his love for the inventor. There have been Teslas in the MCU shows but since Tesla doesn't advertise or do product placement they are mostly in the background or half hidden. I think Marvel Studios has deals with VW brands like Audi and Porsche. BTW, Marvel likes to pretend nowadays that the hero cars in their shows are electric but they never really are and it's just sound effects, the Panamera for instance only comes as a gas hybrid with a tiny battery for green-washing purposes.

What was the case is that Marvel(MCU) could not use the term "mutant" because that used to belong to FOX. That was until the merger that took place 5 years ago. This is the first time any mention of mutant or mutant king was made on an MCU show. Mutants do not mean "X-men". X-men is a group that is composed of mutants.

Nakia is definitely NOT dating that boy she was pretending to hide. She was using him as a believable distraction so Kamran and Bruno could make their getaway. He was playing along and wanting proof so he could try to actually make it real. Zoe on the other hand... that whole comment about letting Kamala come out about being a superhero when she is ready is 1000% queer subtext. Those two date in the comics.

Okay, I realise I'm spamming now...but I have a negative that still bugs me. The whole stand-off and battle outside the school was incredibly weird and uncharacteristic in terms of crowd reaction. Kamala's friends and family were literally cheering when she destroyed the Damage Control cars and attacked their personnel. And they didn't really seem appropriately upset when the goons shot to kill at her and Kamran, and in the end everyone just parted ways like nothing had just happened! The crowd really behaved much more like at a WWE wrestling match, which I found upsetting for what was at stake. If this was real people would be over the barriers in no time or at least throwing bottles.

"Take off your shoes." That was the moment I was waiting for. I wondered if they would go there. But while my first instinct was that it would have been a good oportunity to show respect, I'm kind of a glad they didn't oblige. These are government agents. The government does not recognize any religion above any other, and they certainly don't have to respect different customs just to play nice. They are neutral. They are not bound by anything other than their job. Taking off their shoes would be akin to not entering a catholic church with your knees uncovered (a rule that goes for both men and women). A neutral government agency stands above that. They can't be expected to play along with rules like that.

Re your comment at 23:24 as to who is the real villain? The real villain was love all along. Sorry . . . wrong movie. (Though a heart-broken Bruno might agree.) Anyway, the real villain was Agent Deever, who pointed a gun at a child. If Najma had been the real villain of Kamala's story, she'd have been around in episode 6. Don't get me wrong: she's still the main antagonist of Aisha's story, but that happened 70 years ago. Even until the end, Kamala was still trying to befriend Najma and get her to go back to Kamran. Najma at least was the hero of her own story, she wanted to end her exile and go home, perhaps to family and friends waiting for her. The female federal agent was just a villain with no redeeming qualities; she wasn't even acting with legal authority and had no justification for what she was doing. Edit: re your comment at 29:22; in Episode 2 at the party, Nakia makes it clear that she doesn't like Miguel, ("He's hovering!") so I don't think he's her boyfriend. Though in both episodes he clearly has a crush on her.
