Hi everyone! Let me know if you want/need a native bevel tool in SketchUp in the comments below! :)

No one is going to add a feature this important for free, people only care about money these days, they see no value in helping just because it's nice to help, everyone wants their cut. They have forgotten how to be happy and forgotten how the universe works.

I'd really like a native bevel tool and a tapping tool in SketchUp. I know they're available as extensions but native would be nice. I'm learning Fusion but I've worked with SketchUP since it was released and shortcuts and so on are second nature to me in SketchUp. So much that I try to use Fusion the same way...

Desperately need a bevel, fillet and chamfer tool

I 100% agree. I mainly use the edges bump option in vray where possible to keep my geometry as clean as possible - That's actually something I wish other rendering engines would make standard.

We definitely need a native bevel/chamfer tool. The reason why it is not added is simply Fredo does their job, as many other talented coders who create very useful extensions.

Great description of not just SketchUp, but Blender Fusion 360, etc. Very helpful for a lot of us! Thank you Justin!

Absolutely needed! Sketchup seems also wants to present itself as capable of exporting files to 3D print, but without easily smoothed edges, people could cut themselves on plastic.

Thank you for this Justin, and yes, please! I hope the Sketchup guys will pick this up.

That would be a really relevant upgrade. Specially a non destructive modifier.

Great video! It is beneficial to see what other programs are doing and how better or worse they are compared to Sketchup. Sketchup which we all love to work with, definitely needs more native tools to work with and not just to rely on extensions. The ideas are there and I am sure the SketchUp developers know how to do it. Beter bevel options as you have shown I think ought to be in native tools.

Absolutely! This is only one reason many of us who use professional modelers like autocad, fusion etc., only use sketchup for quick "simple" models. It just isn't a real engineering tool. Yet...

Also I don't understand how such a software giant like 3ds Max or Blender doesn't have simple instruments like Tape measure lines lines like in Sketchup. This lines are so helpful))

😊Hi Master... I'm afraid that people think that when there are extensions, you don't need to develop them yourself... I definitely think that Sketchup needs to do something. I am strongly considering trying another program 😢

Can we have proper first-party bevelling tools please, Sketchup.

Thanks, you are wright : if 3dwarehouse did not exist sketchup would remain a nice gadget and would not have had such success. The available models were created by users for free and trimble is growing. It took years for them to add the automated flip along function...

Hi justin, do you have any video about to how to create siding on a house ? Cheers from mexico 🇲🇽

I've made a recommendation for your request (Floor Generator - a plugin that creates sidings automatically...), and somebody (very intelligent) reported my comment (I got a report for removing my comment from KZitem) without even verifying that that extension (among many options) actually has an option to create horizontal sidings on vertical planes, although it is counterintuitive to its name. I make these recommendations because I believe that Sketchup offers a lot for its money, and until that person apologizes, I will not make any further recommendations on this channel.

coming from 3ds max, Cinema4D and Fusion 360, i am really confused that this simple function for bevels and chamfers is not included in sketchup. It is like the most basic thing in 3D design, and no, i do not want to pay extra just to be able to bevel things in a 3D program.

This is fair - I cannot figure out why this isn't added in SketchUp yet

As someone whos currently trialling sketchup after having used autocad, SolidWorks, pro desktop/engineer and some others, the lack of a bevel tool is a deal breaker. My 20 year old copy of pro desktop can bevel an edge with ease yet this "advanced" software can't? The addons cost, I'm not paying for an addon that should be basic functionality of the software, just like i wont buy a game with a million DLC's, Just give us the finished product and tell me your price ffs.
