@mrs.karnesandme are leaving Scotland this morning. This has been one of the BEST trips we have ever been on and it is very hard to think that it is over. To say I (Mrs. Karnes) is sad to go would be an under statement!
After arriving at the Edinburgh Airport (EDI) in plenty of time, security decided to keep me for an extended time because the hand sanitizer clipped to the outside of my bags. In the United States I have NEVER had one problem with hand sanitizer not being in a small clear bag but in Scotland it's a different story. So after 30 long minutes and a small plastic bag later, they finally let me through. Lesson learned!
After finally making it through security, we headed to the lounge. I had done a little research and the Aspire lounge looked good and was located near our gate. When we got to the lounge we found that it was closed. Not a great start to an already sad day. Well, after a few minutes online searching Lounge Buddy, we found that a brand new Plaza Premium Lounge had just opened and our American Express card got us in!
This lounge is AMAZING! I am so glad the other lounge was closed! The lounge features a stylish gin bar, a collaboration with Edinburgh Gin, an award winning premium gin distillery in the heart of Scotland's capital city, who have created three exclusive gin cocktails for Plaza Premium lounge guests. The lounge is also Scottish themed with traditional tartans, local woods and local artwork. There were so many places to sit and so many seating option's you are sure to find on to suit your needs. There were places to sit and work, places to sit and watch airplanes land and take off and even places for children to play and burn off a little energy.
The food was served buffet style with many choices both hot and cold. The food was fresh and they seemed to change it out often. We were here for breakfast and did not go away hungry. If gin is not your drink of choice, they had so many other options!
The bathrooms were large and clean. There were plenty of them as well.
One feature that was different in this lounge was the option of a private conference room. This room would be great for any group and the room can be reserved!
This lounge is beautiful, has plenty of seating, food and drinks and a designated spot for children to play and relax! If you are flying out of Edinburgh near gate 13 be sure and check this brand new Plaza Premium Lounge out!
To soon it was time to go. We did get a few extra minutes in Scotland because our plane was delayed.
We flew home on a Boeing 757-200 in the Polaris Business Class. Our seats were lay flat seats so this was so nice on our way home. I was able to sleep about three hours. The Polaris Business Class seats have Sax Fifth Avenue bedding and it is super comfy!
Several episodes of Chopped, two meals and a few hours of sleep later, we landed back in the United States at Chicago O'Hare Airport (ORD). We have Global Entry so going through customs was super easy. "Me" was very happy to see that our bags had made their way from Edinburgh. We used Apple Air Tags in our luggage so we were able to track them. We headed to the United Lounge to wait for our flight and start our journey back in the states.
We flew from Chicago (ORD) to St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). Our flight was quick and uneventful. The best news is that we arrived back home safely with all of our bags and so many wonderful memories and stories of our adventures in Scotland!
I might be biased because this trip was for me to learn more about my family, but I thought it was one of our best adventures yet! I loved EVERY minute! I would go back and do it again and again! Scotland will ALWAYS have such a special place in my heart!
Thank you for watching our channel. We are honored to have you as part of our KZitem family! See you next week!
Cheers!
Update: We have purchased tickets and will VERY soon be off on another International Adventure! See you soon!
Slainte Mhath!
