The popular story dates the etymology of the term Dutch courage to English soldiers fighting in the Anglo-Dutch Wars (1652-1674) and perhaps as early as the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648). One version states that jenever (or Dutch gin) was used by English soldiers for its calming effects before battle, and for its purported warming properties on the body in cold weather. Another version has it that English soldiers noted the bravery-inducing effects of jenever on Dutch soldiers.

The self oscillation on the flanger is cool for someone wanting to get into that kinda poly chorus/in utero vibe without soending hundreds on a poly chorus. Note: i'm not saying it it exactly the same but there are definitely overlaps and it is a hell of a lot cheaper than a poly chorus.

Since 2014 Mooer have taken their mini pedals and made them for anyone with their brand put on the box. All together there have been 29 different companies selling these Mooer boxes with simply the paint and graphics changed. Even Fender sold a few models. In fact I have the graphic EQ you just saw on this video with Fender printed on it. This same EQ with Mooer on it is $65.00 USD. There is zero difference. There is no saving using cheaper parts. It is cheaper to use the same parts and simply get volume discounts. Add to that parts must be reliable as waste kills profits as does warranty. Mooer need to be able to ship 99% of what comes off the line with no worries. So it is dead cool we can get these high quality pedals from Andertons. Landlord gives you Mooer for your money 😇

No. The pitch shifter unless you want artifacts and aliasing (which I'll be honest sometimes I do) should be as close to the pickups as it can get. This allows it to track better and for the distortion to work like it is a big, multi-octave guitar. It give the pitch shift a better chance to track.
@stereoroid
Жыл бұрын
This isn’t an analogue “tracking” pitch shifter like a Boss OC-2 or similar. It’s basically a DSP running an algorithm on whatever you throw at it. It pitch shifts noise just as happily. I got one of these last week, it sounds like that wherever you put it.

I've used expensive pedals, cheaper pedals and the most basic, budget pedals and , honestly, people would be very surprised. I've let guitar-player friends hear them on recordings without telling them they're cheap and they always say they sound amazing (especially if I lie and say it's an expensive pedal to hear their reaction, before telling them the truth). Of course, there are exceptions - cheap ones which sound awful, but there are expensive ones that sound bad, too. There's so much confirmation bias when it comes to guitar gear. People like to think they can tell an expensive pedal apart from cheap ones (which is how too many people decide what is "good" and what is "bad"), but for the most part they can't. I think this channel proved that when they had their Klon and Klon-clone shootout. A lot of it is placebo, and nothing more. There's so many cheap ones to chose from now, especially for people starting their journey into the guitar and gear world: Sonicake, Amuzik, Donner, Mosky, Rowan. Behringer amd Zoom MultiFX have great sounding pedals, though not ideal for anything other than bedroom playing since they're made of plastic. Again, I have had horrible ones from these brands, but I've had more good than bad plus it's only £25 you've lost, not £250. Another advantage, I think, to using cheaper ones that sound good is that most pros use the same pedals in their recordings. How many of your favourite players have the Boss DS-1, or EHX Big Muff Pi, Pro Co RAT, Boss BD-2, etc on their pedalboards? Using a pedal that no-one else does could help bring a bit of individuality and character to your music, rather than a generic combination.

I think more expensive pedals do have enough extra finesse in form and function to make them worthwhile IF you have plenty of spare cash to indulge your hobby. But that’s not to say that their prices are not inflated far above what they really should be. It’s as if you pay an extra 50% for better quality/functionality, and then an additional 150% on top of that for a decent bit of graphic design (which only you can ‘hear’).

Dutch courage was actually made up by the English! Back when the English and the Dutch were at war it became an insult to say the dutch were always drunk, and that it was the only reason they were brave. At the time the Dutch were usually always a little drunk because they put alcohol in the drinking water to kill the bad stuff in the drinking water. This made them have a friendly and kind reputation with any country they, you know, weren't at war with.
