Good job getting the 399 together, as for the manifold gaskets a main dealer really ought to sort them properly, even a stockman like me could probably do it

Doin very well ta, driving now which is great. I haven't forgotten ur kind invitation, wife is having health issues at the mo. Only another 5 weeks to wait then after 12 weeks can do much more so that will be good. Will be happier once we can get my wife better. We all take out health for granted but we never know what is around the corner ?

Fit a safety start switch! Long screwdriver and a tap of the hammer Will turn it no bother! Wee blob of grease on new switch and it'll be safe.

Joining up can be time consuming, however. Make two guide studs from the longest lift cover bolts, cut off heads and chamfer ends, cut screwdriver slot in end. Fit prior to pushing together, easy to see if up/down, left/right adjustment needed. When close, use a screwdriver against the guide stud to run the flywheel. Alternatively, when lined up on guide studs, put tractor unto forward gear, couple up battery and cross starter contacts to jump the tractor together. 😮😮😮😮😮 old trick works on most brands, not Nuffields, Leylands, 1200's and 1250's

On your video, you can definitely see the fan turning as you push the engine back onto the bell housing on the 399 back together, which means the splines are trying to line up.

@@MasseyDave I once changed the clutch on a Massey 675, without using a rail. I used a very strong sack barrow under the engine instead. Bit tricky but it did work. The only trouble was that I forgot to remove the packing bolts and couldn’t understand why the new clutch was slipping! Fortunately, easily solved by going through the plate at the bottom on the bell housing, to unbolt and remove them.
