Liborous Oshoma in this episode of the Advocate says; In 1991 Prof. Wole Soyinka described the 1992 IBB’s budget as guesstimate, a new world he coined to mean guessing the estimate. But today we are not just guessing the budget estimate, we have ended with a padded budget as we become;
A PADDED NATION
Tell me what don’t we pad in this country?
Until we reduce the scope of our government financial influence and responsibility from this bogus generalistic unitary platform cloaked in federal gab to a more manageable, individualized level where the federating units can be financially independent and be accountable to the unit, people will continue to go to Abuja with the hope of cornering everything meant for the collective to themselves alone to the detriment of others.
If not challenged or changed, Nigeria system of government as presently constituted will continue to benefit those at the top while those under continue to cut corners amongst themselves.
Those when the system benefit today de rejoice as those when no benefit de complain until e reach their turn. But is it sustainable?
